The curtain holds up very well to water without a liner; generally, water slides straight down the curtain. I also love the simple design on the curtain. True to the description, it is odorless (though it does have a faint smell once you open a new package). After more than four months of twice-daily usage, there are no signs of wear-and-tear or mildew on the curtain - it is holding up very well so far. The material does feel very synthetic (it reminds me of the material that is used in tents), but I don't consider this an issue at all.
Things to consider: (1) the curtain is more black then grey, as shown in the photo. Keep this in mind if you do decide to purchase this product; (2) upon closer inspection, the material has micro-holes that sometimes water can get stuck in and pass through if forced from the other direction. I have yet to see water pass through the curtain on its own, but this is something I will keep an eye out for over time.
Overall, would highly recommend this shower curtain. Cheap, beautiful, and gets the job done.
1. Use a pressing cloth, don't iron polyester directly. Had to look that up too. I used an ~18" x 30" piece of an old white sheet.
2. I set the iron at the lowest steam/spray setting, #5 of 7 on mine.
3. The instructions said sprinkle the pressing cloth with water, and keep it damp. I just splashed with my fingers from a cup of water.
4. It took 2 passes, top and bottom to get the vertical creases out, and 2 passes for the horizontal.
This worked great, and it was easier than I expected. All the creases were gone. When it was hung, it looked exactly like the photo here. I am very pleased.
If you are going to iron it, I suggest doing your own research first. Then be careful. I think you can damage the curtain if it's not done correctly.
My shower curtain definitely does not flow like waves in the picture on Amazon. Even after being out of the packaging for some time...it still stands out horribly hanging from the new pretty double hooks I purchased with it.
