The addi Turbo® Click system provides 10 different sizes of addi Turbo® tips (3.5mm, 3.75mm, 4.0mm, 4.5mm, 5.0mm, 5.5mm, 6.0mm, 8.0mm, 9.0mm, and 10.0mm), three different lengths of our new, extremely pliable blue cord (24”, 32” and 40”), and one connector piece which helps to either store stitches or combine your cords. The Click tips require no tools to change; simply insert the cord deep into the tip, twist and release. The tips will remain secure until you change them, thanks to the Click’s revolutionary locking mechanism. The addi Click tips are nickel plated. Our nickel plating process is electro-static, which produces a smooth, rounded edge, where the tip and the cord "click" together. Please Note: Every addi product purchased from an Authorized addi Dealer comes with a Lifetime Warranty from any manufacturer's defect.

Needle tips: Addi tips are blunt and slick. Actually the slickest I've ever used. Absolutely my favorite. This is entirely a personal choice. If sharp needles are your preference, Chiaogoos are for you. They are tapered and pointy. No wrong option here; this is entirely subjective. However, as knitters know, knitting with a needle whose tips don't suit you can be a knitting killjoy.
Cords: Both are good. The Addis come with a flexible cord that doesn't feel like the cheap plastic cords one often sees in circular needles. Mine are gold, but I understand the blue are the exactly the same. The color indicates country of manufacture, I think. For the record, I have fixed Addis with both blue and gold cords and never noticed a difference between them. Chiaogoo metal interchangeable have a firm but flexible red cord with metal mesh in the plastic. They are my absolute favorite cords. They never, ever curl up on themselves when you work a small project, which Addis can do, occasionally. For the record, the wooden set of Chiaogoo interchangables (which I also own) come with a clear plastic cord, very different from the red. Luckily the wooden needles are usable with the red cords, which you can also buy separately. The red cords are also called "twist", for some reason.
Joins: Chiaogoo wins here. The Addis inset the cord and then twist to click into place. It works, but necessitates a very small bump where the metal of the needle sets over the metal of the cord end. It's very slight and won't hurt most yarn, but can be annoying. The Chiaogoo join twists the needle into the cord end, creating a much smoother meeting of the two pieces.
So, in short, if the tip is most important, you'll choose the one you want. If the join is what sells it for you, you'll choose Chiaogoo.
When I first started using the set I had trouble with the tips detaching, but that stopped happening pretty quickly, so I gather I wasn't doing it quite right at the beginning.
My only complaint is that the set I got didn't come with exactly the same size needles that are listed in the description. Mine came with: 3.5mm, 4.0mm, 4.5mm, 5.0mm, 5.5mm, 6.0mm, 7.0mm, 8.0mm, 9.0mm, and 10.0mm. So, unlike the description, mine has 7.0mm tips but doesn't have 3.75mm tips (I ended up buying those separately). I also ended up buying a 16" cable separately. Lastly, while it really doesn't matter to me, my cables are gold, which is different than the description but the same as the picture. The blue cable (which is what my 16" is) is slightly more flexible, but I don't anticipate it will be much different.
3.5mm, 3.75mm, 4.0mm, 4.5mm, 5.0mm, 5.5mm, 6.0mm, 8.0mm, 9.0mm, and 10.0mm
Although the "click-in" mechanism works very well, my addi click turbo size8 points began peeling down to the basic, what, copper beneath the nickel coating while I was knitting my very first piece on them. A hat. Which is to say, that the needles began sloughing their skins approximately 20 rounds into the project.
I expected vastly more from German craftsmanship.
Don't tell me--like everything else, it's Chinese craftsmanship behind a German design.
I'd have cheerfully paid double for a set of WELL MADE needles.
