Two months ago I suddenly got inspired to pick it up again, quite a daunting prospect as I had forgotten almost everything and many grammatical points I never learned in the first place, Now I'm really feeling the love for the French language! I found Laura's book and I've worked though all of it and my knowledge and understanding of French grammar is quite strong as a result. It has also helped me learn, or re-learn a lot of vocabulary.
This book is thorough, logically laid out, and concise. I found each chapter to be the perfect amount of material to complete in one sitting; studying a chapter and doing the written exercises took me about an hour. There are aspects of French grammar that are tricky, to be sure, but Laura explains them in the most intuitive way possible and provides lots of examples throughout every chapter. Despite this book being 'intermediate' it contains all the grammar one needs to speak and understand French. She doesn't include any of the "weird" tenses except the passé simple (by weird I mean uncommon in spoken French, but rather literary tenses). As an intermediate learner you don't want to clutter your brain with all that stuff anyway, at least I don't! Finally, I enjoyed Laura's humor and levity in her descriptions. It made this book all the more enjoyable.
Now, with my strong command of French grammar and vocabulary I'm listing to French podcasts every day and it's amazing how far I've progressed in just two months. I plan to join a French conversation group soon.
Si vous voulez améliorer votre Français, je recommende fortement ce livre :-)
Although the cover makes its primary pitch to people looking to write French better, the book will equally appeal to those simply interested to improve their grammar and usage of the language, whether for writing, reading speaking or oral comprehension.

It is clearly and logically written and the explanations of the grammar points are easy to understand. There is plenty of opportunity to practise new knowledge. There are useful exercises that immediately follow each point rather than being left until the end of the chapter, by which time you may well have had to take in a lot of conflicting information. The book also keeps these exercises simple so that you can focus on the main points you are trying to learn. I found both these particularly helpful.
All in all - a very useful addition to my (growing)library of French books.
