The content of the book is very well done by J. Heywood.
However this soft cover text I bought is an international version. The pages are paper thin, almost transparent. If I could do it over - I'd spend the extra money to buy a better quality textbook. I'm not skilled enough to read both sides of the page at once...

I was glad to find that there was a paperback version of this book available, I seem to remember it was the most expensive book I purchased while in college. The format is a bit dated but otherwise its a great book and is/was considered to be the best internal combustion engine text on the market back in the day.
The book does get complicated, but you can still get a lot out of it even if you are not overly quantitative. The book was previously used for graduate level engineering courses at MIT, so the quantitative part is pretty involved too.

It looks, at first glance, exactly the same as the US edition. Take care ordering that you choose the item you actually want. The other international editions are yellow, but this one had the same green cover as the US edition.

The standard for IC Engine info. Much info on emissions and turbocharging. This not a how-to book but instead a very readable theory based discussion explained in understandable terms backed by literally thousands of supporting test results. Graphs and Figures are exceptionally well done. A must have for any one interested in engines be they gear head or scholar.
