Truly was the first girl who ever turned me down.
The first female friend I ever had.
And she might just be the first woman I ever fall in love with.
When an emergency means she needs my help running her family’s charity, I’m happy to introduce her to the glitz and glamour of the London business world—taking her to dinners, coaching her through speeches, zipping up the sexy evening gown I helped her pick out.
The more time we spend together, the more I want to convince her I’m not a man to avoid, that we’re not as unsuited as she believes.
She sees herself as the book-reading, science-loving introvert while I’m the dangerous, outgoing, charmer.
She thinks I love parties and people whereas she prefers pajamas and a takeaway.
What she doesn’t realize is that I like everything about her–the way her smile lights up a room, how her curves light up my imagination, and especially the way her lips taste when coated with tequila.
She’s the first woman I ever fell in love with. I just need to know if she could ever love me too.
A standalone novel.

International, Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author, Louise Bay writes sexy, contemporary romance novels - the kind she likes to read. Each novel is stand-alone.
Ruined by bonk-busters and sexy mini-series of the eighties Louise loves all things romantic. There's not enough of it in real life so she disappears into the fictional worlds in books and films.
Louise loves the rain, the West Wing, London, days when she doesn't have to wear make-up, hanging out with her kid, being with friends, elephants and champagne.

I almost stopped reading this at 28%, but instead scrolled until I got to their first intimate act and scrolled some more until I got to the big conflict. That’s how boring this book was.
It was pretty disappointing. It starts out with the FMC, Truly, working very hard with her twin sister on fundraising for their mother’s foundation. One day her sister tells her that the MMC, Noah, is coming to lunch after having been across the ocean in New York for four years. Then we learn that Truly and Noah once were very close, like best friends, and they almost kissed the night before he went to New York. Inexplicably, though they were best friends, they haven’t been in touch in four years. As soon as Truly hears his name, she gets out of sorts with all the memories of the near-kiss and how the butterflies in her stomach are just like they were before he left. For his part, Noah is happy to see her but there is no indication that he has thought about her at all, and later in the book he pretty much confirms that.
Although she is the one who initiates a casual relationship, of course we know that’s not going to fly. However, I was pretty dismayed at how happy he was to go along with it. I think my disappointment was rooted in the fact that the author used the trope of the guy being OK with casual until he was going to lose the girl, then he realizes how much she’s in love with her. But even then it wasn’t sketched out very well.
I liked Truly. She was very smart and most of the time I was saying “yeah girl” when she was setting up boundaries. Noah is probably my least-liked Bay MMC, and that’s saying a lot because I was really ticked off at the guy in the Prince of Park Place or whatever it was called. Except for an early bout of jealousy, he was just too casual in the way he thought about her. He was very supportive of her, I really liked that, but outside of bed he wasn’t very passionate.
Anyway, I don’t know that I would recommend this to anyone. I guess one reason is because when I read a romance, I want the trope stuff, I want the passion, the jealousy, some denying of feelings, but followed up by contradictory behavior. I know it’s not real life, but I don’t read romance for real life. If I were reading a mainstream book, I expect more realistic relationship stuff.
Truly has had a secret crush on Noah her sisters husbands best friend since they first met years ago at their wedding. Knowing Noah's reputation of being a player Truly does all she can to protect her heart by keeping Noah as a friend, but the night before Noah is scheduled to leave to New York things almost changed - but then didn't. Now Noah is back and Truly needs him to help her navigate through how to present herself and be social as part of her and her sister's fundraising business. You see Truly is a numbers girl and is most comfortable behind a keyboard or at home with a good book, but with her sister out of commission for a while Truly needs to step up and Noah is there to help. Now if Truly can protect her heart as she learns what she can from the sexiest man she has ever met things will be ok - or will it.
Noah has been gone for 4 years building his company in New York but after selling it off and becoming a multimillionaire he returns to London richer and with a lot of time on his hands. Reconnecting with his best friend and his wife he sees Truly again who is as beautiful as she was before. She is also unassuming and a little bit of a recluse so when he is asked to help her with their company he does so willingly and as he spends more time with her he finds himself wanting her more and more. He is not sure if a relationship is what he wants or can have especially when Truly keeps him at arm's length.
I really enjoyed Noah and Truly I thought their friendship felt authentic and natural. Told in dual POV's we get to see both sides of the story from each MC which I love. The story is fastpaced with great dialog and story development. It feels a little short for me with the characters themselves - while I like Truly and Noah it sometimes felt a little disconnected - especially with Truly. Her self deprecating got a little old for me over time to the point where I wanted to shout that she is beautiful and to be ok with it. I think at the end Noah did show her how beautiful she is - it just took a long time to get there. Overall I did end up liking Truly and Noah and their story which is why I give it 4 stars.

I will say I wish we had more of an epilogue because I want to see more and how they both get on!
Truly is wonderful, smart & beautiful but she feels like she's the background to her twin sisters show, she doesn't believe she can be anything like her and its just the geek who sits at her desk and thinks she doesn't deserve Noah because he should be with someone as beautiful as her sister.
Noah is wonderful! He builds her confidence and tells her how different she is and how she is beautiful in her own way and doesn't need to try and be her sister she's her own person! I adore the way he treats her and the fact he can go head to head with her at geekdom 😂💕
He had alot to get over and understand which had him getting confused while she was trying to protect her heart the whole time, the ending was beautiful and hearing how he actually feels was wonderful! I loved the epilogue but would really like to see more 💕
I definitely recommend this book! I couldn't put it down I was just drawn into their story and needed to know how it ends!

Truly is such a geeky introvert and so sweet natured, and damn if Noah isn’t the heartthrob to make any woman swoon.
I love how their friendship blossomed and how Noah found that challenge that he realised he didn’t have to conquer.
I really enjoyed this story, and Noah wasn’t quite the player I expected him to be.
This book was a combination of sweet, sexy, fun and good feels.
Highly recommend this book by Louise Bay.
