TWO LOST HOURS ABOARD A UFO—THE ABDUCTION OF BETTY AND BARNEY HILL • One of the most extraordinary UFO tales of our time—a thrilling, otherworldly, and wildly entertaining adventure that enraptured America and stands as the quintessential extraterrestrial encounter

"True believers will see this as further evidence of the reality of UFOs" —The New York Times

On a summer night in 1961, Betty and Barney Hill were driving home through New Hampshire when a bright object appeared in the sky and began following them. When the couple finally pulled over to get a better look, the object vanished before their eyes. With nothing else to do, Betty and Barney returned to their car and kept driving into the night. The encounter left them rattled, but what came next was even more arresting: the following day, the Hills realized they couldn’t remember anything from almost two hours of their drive. Time itself had disappeared, so the couple began looking for help, hoping to uncover what happened that mysterious night.

Captivating and unputdownable,
The Interrupted Journey is the complete story of those missing hours and the Hills’ nearly identical accounts, as revealed to doctors under psychotherapy and hypnosis. It stands as one of the most extraordinary UFO tales of our time. Thrilling, otherworldly, and wildly entertaining, The Interrupted Journey is an adventure that enraptured America and stands as the quintessential extraterrestrial encounter.

I am deeply impressed how the seller kept a 1965 version of this book nice and clean. A natural aging fascinates me as a collector of books. This text met my high expectations. A big thanks to the seller.

A very detailed account of Hills abduction case. Very grateful to the authors that this case study is published and open to the public's knowledge. I like this book more than the other abduction books which include too many cases and not detailed enough.

This incident took place in a part of New Hampshire that I am rather familiar with. The story is similar to other UFO encounters I have read about, many of which took place long after this experience. This may be one of the earliest we in the general pubic became aware of. This is an old edition, published in the 60s. My only beef is a petty one. I read this story with the desire to see one word more than any other in the entire book. That one word is the name of the town between Lancaster and Twin Mountain: Whitefield, and in this edition, the only typo in the entire book was that one word. The town name was printed as "Whitfield". This did not detract from the overall account, but I was sorely disappointed to see Whitefield misspelled. It would been so easy to verify such a minor detail as the name of a town. It's beyond me why no one did.

Interested in reading this accounting for many years. My in-laws witnessed the UFO activity above a nearby lake that same evening as did many other NH citizens & policemen. Under hypnosis this couple gave astounding details of their abduction. Fascinating read! I believe!

Thank You for the quality book, it will aid me in writing my book. Russell, 6 12 2015. I recommend this book very highly, since it was the first case documented of two people abducted by aliens. I am a "UFO Investigator", and have been for forty years! I have sponsored support groups in my home, for many years, to bring together people who have experienced the same "Super Natural Events". This simple gathering of abductees, shared events with each other, giving them great relief! Knowing their not alone. This book is "101 UFO" abductions, mandatory reading, I know I'm an abductee! I was wrong though.

I'm a Scientology history nerd, and the woman protagonist in this book's story, was reading the NY Times one day, and saw an innocent map of the stars, which in turn triggered, she claims, her to start remembering the disturbing incident inside the space ship she was abducted into, specifically the NY Times star chart mirrored one of the star charts that her space Captain showed her, during her abduction, as she was such a nosey abductee and wished to know what all the star charts aboard this space ship that abducted her were for!

    Oh, me or my.

Me, in my Scientology staffer history, saw this very book I'm reviewing,on the shelf of the books in my wife's office, at Scientology "Commodore's Staff Aides" offices, on the 2nd floor of the Lerner Building in downtown Clearwater, Florida, in 1979. My wife and I (divorced now) were both lifetime staffers in the Scientology Sea Org, she being Commodore's Staff Aide for Division 3 (Division 3 deals with church money, and Hubbard's money).

We were all nigher typical dedicated slave-like cult staffers, my wife more than me, I being only a lower "training official" whose job was train church executives, my wife being a real part of Hubbard's top clique of "Aides".

This book, thus, being on my wife's inherited bookshelf (since the Aides were usually fast changing, my wife sustained the position for 1-2 years before falling from it), the books were all accumulated books of various other Aides and past holders of the Hubbard money management top job for the Scientology cult.

So, while waiting for wife, late at night, after midnight, I'd come from my job, I nightly walked from my building in downtown Clearwater over to her building, and while waiting for her to finish her daily high pressure top "Aide" cult's big money management duties, I sat in a chair by her bookshelf and read this book.

Being a training officer for Scientology's top "mecca" church training and pseudo-therapy/high volume exorcism church, the Clearwater "Flag Service Org", I knew all the ins and outs of Hubbard's "Marcab Confederacy" writings and lectures.

Hubbard thought the Marcab Confederacy sent traders around the Milky Way, and that this "sector of the galaxy" included us, earth and our solar system. To Hubbard/scientology, the Marcabs consider earth off limits, as we are supposed has beens and screwups.

Inter planetary and trading spaceship people are supposed to avoid earth.

So, knowing all this, and living the then life of being right in tight with one of Hubbard's top "Aides" (my wife), and finding and reading this book above, on her shelf, the content of this book had GREATER impact on my then young brain!

And the single word that caused me to almost fall out of my chair, was the "Marcab" star, listed on the NY Times photo, which triggered the woman protagonist, to jar her into her troubled mental period, prior to seeking the hypnotist psychologist who put her in deep hypnosis, and got the guts of the story of this book.

Well, my purpose for reading this book anew, was to see if Hubbard might have somehow, or one of Hubbard's followers had somehow read this book, noted the "Marcab" was a real star, and then might have by word of mouth spread this fact, inside of Scientology, so much so, that Marcab was being bandied about in people's imagined "past lives" sessions, while doing the Hubbard pseudo-past-lives-therapy exploration, which is common and mainline Hubbard pseudo-therapy in Scientology.

I wondered, if the UFO alien abduction popularity of this book, if it preceded Hubbard's own use of the word "Marcab".

Meaning if the UFO community had leeched "Marcab" around their fellows, and some of their fellows might have leeched it into Scientology followers, who are very much into past lives on other space civilizations, evidence is Hubbard's 1959 book, "Have You Lived Before This Life", wherein there are half a dozen what Scientologists/Hubbard categorize as "heavy electronic incidents" where the Scientology patient/followers recall past lives on heavily science fiction type settings on advanced space civilizations that existed long time ago (also plenty of evidence in Hubbards red volumes, volume 1 and volume 2, which has "track maps" listing the long ago trillions of years ago space civilizations that Scientology followers were discovering using Hubbard's past lives exploration pseudo-therapy).

Okay, that's what I wanted to find out.

Did the UFO community bandy Marcab around and leech this star's word into Scientology lingo, because today, expert nerds of Scientology will find the "Marcab Confederacy" in the red hardback Scientology technical dictionary.

My conclusion, this book does not provide adequate proof, and appears to have been written after Hubbard began using "Marcab Confederacy" (the confederacy is also noted in the green hardback dictionary of Scientology's, under the definition of "Sea Org Symbol").

Anyways, this book should be on the shelf of Scientology experts, is all I'm saying!

I don't believe a word of this book though, as I'm an atheist.

But this book is interesting to expert Scientolgists, and was on the office bookshelf which my then wife, inherited from her successor "Commodore's Staff" aides to L. Ron Hubbard.

This is noteworthy, firsthand account, I attest this is true.

John Fuller does a very excellent telling of the amazing experiences of Betty and Barney Hill beginning in September of 1961. A keen investigator, he carefully weaves the accounting of their experiences with the work that therapist Dr. Simon is conducting to help the Hills recall just what really happened that amazing night. If you've seen The UFO Incident movie or read the book 'Captured', you will want to read this book. Highly recommended!! jon
