About the Author

Mark Fleisher turned to poetry in February 2011 following a career as a veterans’ advocate and award-winning newspaper reporter and freelance writer. He earned a journalism degree from Ohio University, and is an Air Force veteran, serving in Vietnam as a combat news reporter. Since moving from upstate New York to Albuquerque in October 2013, his work has appeared in several anthologies including the 2015 Fixed and Free, Shadow of the Snake, nowSeeHear, and the 2015 issue of Leonardo, published by Central New Mexico Community College. His poems have also appeared in the Bosque Beast, Duke City Fix, the Golden Walkman poetry podcast, the Elmira (N.Y.) Star - Gazette, the Santa Fe Reporter, and the inaugural edition of WAM, published by the Warren County (N.C.) Artists’ Market. Fleisher is a regular contributor to the Arkansas Free Press and is a member of the Glass Eye Poets Society of Madrid, NM. His first book, Moments of Time, was published in 2014 by Mercury HeartLink of Albuquerque. Earlier this year, he and Valencia County poet Dante Berry collaborated on a chapbook, Obituaries of the Living. A semi-finalist for the Stephen A. DiBiase prize, Fleisher was guest poet at the 2016 Noche de Estrellas sponsored by the Valencia County Literacy Council. In May 2016, his poems Soul of the River and The River were included in an art exhibit curated by Karyn Gabaldon of Gabaldon Galleries in Durango, Colorado. He recently has ventured into New Mexico’s burgeoning film and television industry as a background player and extra.
