As soon as I took them out of the bag they were shipped in, I could tell right away they were severely dry. I have some leather conditional on hand, so I rubbed in a fair amount; probably about an oz. total. They are much more pliable and feel a lot better. So, do your self a favor, if you don't already have some, get a good conditioner. Even if they were shipped well moisturized, this is something you should have on hand for long term care anyway.
I have pretty large hands and the XL work well. If I did XXL, I'd have excess space in fingertips. As it is, my fingers do feel a little jammed up, but with I'm breaking them in and I think they will be fine.
again, not knowing if they will last long, I'd say these are a good pair of gloves for the price. I'm sure with proper care they will last long enough where I don't feel like I got ripped off.
Update - I've had these for almost a year and a half now, wearing them 3 times a week on average. They have stood up very well - the quality of the leather is very good, and the construction has been solid. When they get wet and then dry, as when I sweat, they have shrunk just a bit and have fit even better, although remain a little too full across the palm for my narrow hands.
