This was my redneck solution to 17 sun rings at $30 a pop. I put the 12 ft one in the wider portion of pool and 10 ft one in narrower. Total cost was about $40 total. In retrospect, I could have bought 2 12 ft ones but it's fine. Some of you are probably wondering, why didn't she just buy a cover that would cover the entire pool? Good question...I don't want to have to store something that large when not in use (most of the time) nor do I want to be out on my lanai wrasslin' a giant sheet of bubble wrap onto or off of my pool.
It takes me only a few minutes to get them onto or off of the pool and folded up. I've not yet tried to origami them into the nice zippered bags they came with but it seems like it might actually be possible. I can't speak to durability since I've only had them a short time, but I expect they will be okay since I won't actually have them out and exposed to the sun a whole lot.
The big issue I had was that it rotted in less then 2 months. We did not make it thru the summer before it fell apart into thousands of messy blue round flakes. The plastic they use has no UV protection so the sun just destroyed the solar cover.
Last year 2018 I purchased a 18 foot pool and Intex's 18 foot solar cover, this larger cover was a little more durable and lasted a little longer then its smaller brother. Like many have reported, this does not last very long.... I live in California and I only got about 5 months use out of the cover before it disintegrated, since it lasted the swimming season I gave it 2 stars. When I went to pull it out of the pool it literally came out in chunks no matter how light I pulled it just fell apart and of course the thousands of little blue circles everywhere. Basically, it appears to be a use and toss for just one season, I almost bought this again to just use and toss for the season but instead this year I decided to purchased a cover 2x more expensive but is 16 mil, folks have claimed to use it 4+ years.

Make sure if you do get a solar pool cover that you use the right dose of chemicals in the pool as we didn't and with the weather being so hot the pool turned a very bright green, slippery and we couldn't use it. A combination of solar cover, chemicals and heat from sun.
It's all a learning curb but we're happy with it now.
