Holes in cover-
First off, yes this cover has holes in it. No, it is not defective because of the holes. I read many reviews saying that it was defective because it had holes in it but they obviously didn’t realize that the holes serve to remove air from underneath the cover to help it lay flat onto the water.
My pool when I opened it on May 3rd was 56° F. We haven’t gotten any sun recently and my pool is under heavy shade. We just received the solar blanket this week and the pool water rose 10° overnight and when checked it today, the water was 70°F. That’s incredible for the fact that no sun was shining on it and it worked simply off of trapping heat and preventing evaporation.
Yes, it is one big piece of bubble wrap but it doesn’t pop as easily as packaging bubble wrap. I tried stepping and stomping on it to see if it would pop easily and it doesn’t! It is incredibly durable and the material is thick.
I had such trouble with the non-solar cover and it took 2 or more of us to put it on. This solar cover is perfect and I can do it myself! I just throw the whole thing in the center of my pool and go around the sides and pull out the creases.
I’d like to address a couple things I read in the reviews:
“It came with holes in it” - They are supposed to be there.
“It fell apart after using it for more than one season” - Well, its $40 so replacing it isn’t the end of the world. I try to be pretty gentle with mine when I roll it up, but it’s essentially a giant bubble wrap disc so you can’t expect it to last that long.
Other than that, I love it and will buy it again and again!

I have no experience with any other similar product, but I am more than happy I bought this, even though it was 25% of my original purchase price of the whole pool
