I love phoenix and this book does give the real meaning of being reborn from ashes which is different from any other book about phoenixes.
The whole forgetting everything when you turn to ashes and comes back is really sad and that's Cara', and I guess everyone that's reading this book's, fear. Cara doesn't want to lose a part of herself when she goes through her change. She saw her brother turning all sorts of different after it.
And there's Logan. Cara's forbidden love. The guy she accidentally got together in a way she can't explain or get over. She doesn't know if her feelings for him will be there after her rebirth so she spends as much time with him as possible. They are adorable and I really hope they relationship can work out despite this.
There's also a hunter coming to town and honestly, I thought I knew who was it until he really shows his face. But I was wrong, so wrong, OMG, can't believe it. The book totally fooled me and I was genuinely surprised and a little sad because now I can't even imagine what is going to happen in the next book. Horrible timing in the final words. I'm totally picking up the next one ASAP.
She falls hard for the new boy in her small town, New Yorker Logan. Cara tries to push him away, but the attraction is too deep. After she’s reborn, all the memories of what they shared will be gone. Another scary thing is there’s a Hunter in town, someone who kills phoenixes to gain their essence. After a friend and fellow phoenix is killed, Cara fears that she’s next because of her strong essence. Also, she’s been having difficulty keeping her powers under wraps around everyone.
This is a great paranormal story heavy on romance. Cara and Logan have fantastic chemistry. I loved the world of phoenixes and all the well-written rules about how they operate. There’s a lot of suspense involving the Hunter and Cara’s upcoming rebirth. The ending was amazing and I can’t wait to read what happens next.
A murder in the town puts people on edge and their sights on Logan being the new outsider to town with less than a month to Cara's rebirth. Turns out the "hunter" is part of the group of friends that all hang out and Cara is next on his list of prey.
The story and characters are well versed and described to a tee. The supporting characters are used to provide a backdrop to the town and the support community. Read the story too see how it all plays out.
I loved the simplicity of the read with the rare topic of Phoenix's! Hashway new what she had when writing this book. It goes off the ya book charts... With the real life and love thrown from it's pages.
Grab this well written, adventure infused, fiery book, today! You'll be glad you did!
Cara drove me a little crazy. I understand making dumb decisions when you’re really only putting yourself at risk, but she risked all the phoenixes and that kind of stuff drives me crazy. Other than that, I liked Cara and rooted for her all the way through and I liked all of the supporting characters too. The ending was a perfect carrot for the next book.

Very cool (hot!) to have a paranormal romance with a phoenix. Mix in a murder mystery, and Kelly Hashway has penned a winner.Published 1 month ago by Katie
