That said, focusing on Devin and Andrei's story (and the author's excellent writing) has wet my appetite for the other books in this series. I've since been able to locate each one and have added them to my Wish List. As I catch up to this book and learn who all the characters I just ignored are, I'm sure I'll be back here to adjust this review and bump up this rating.
If you're new to this series like me, take my advice and start from the beginning. This book as a stand-along work will leave you a bit frustrated, but curious as to what you've missed out on before it.
I'm so happy Sandrine kept Devin the same pretty much through the book except for closer to the end. There were some minor changes but that was to be expected. I knew there would be changes but I always hate when it happens immediately. Andrei was pretty well the same as well. Of course he went soft before Devin but I can live with that.
Why give it a 4.5 and not a solid 5? I call it The Name Game. I'm all about Sandrine writing more books in different series because I love her work. I'm also about interweaving characters between said series because I always like the continuation of my favorite characters. What I don't like is having 20 names thrown at me and 10 of them start with the same letter and sound similar and the other 10 are names of previous characters. This happened twice in this book between Devin and Andrei. I know she's setting up for a new spin off or something and I know she mentioned this would be happening in this book, but whoa!. I probably couldn't tell you who any of the people are, who they're married to, their kids names or even who they killed because it was all dumped on me in one big name drop overload.
Overall I loved the book. Between Andrei just being Andrei and Devin being dubbed Agent Psycho, I wasn't let down.
As much as I love to be able to get contacts or connections with the other couples in every book, but when it took pretty too big portion in the story, it quite irritated me. Like one of my favourite couples Scott and Tristan's story...I thought there were only 75% of the total book that focused on their story..and it quite disappointed my expectation.
But this is just a Wow!
There are all flavors in this book including actions, really, and reasonable enough.
The chemistry between Lyons and Andrei is very strong, and the author gave enough solid situations for them to show who they are. ---You know...many romance books love to indicate their characters as a great detective or FBI or marine or whatever, but you completely never be able to feel those skills or even any glimpse of atmosphere during the reading---. In this book Lyons shows you he's a cool FBI
There also are times to show why Lyons is called Crazy-Insane..etc..(and believe me, you'll feel it ☆ laugh), and there are times to show why Andrei is the Mob Boss while he's so sweet.
Really love Lyons at that benefit party♥
A great read with a great couple.
