Editorial Reviews

Review

“This heartfelt family saga weaves together science and magic believably and sensitively.” (Kirkus Reviews)

* "A must-have tale, perfect for fans of emotionally resonant magical realism like Karen Strong’s
Just South of Home." (School Library Journal, starred review)

About the Author

Loriel Ryon spent her childhood with her nose in a book, reading in restaurants, on the school bus, and during every family vacation. When she wasn't reading, she built volcanoes, made jewelry, and raised butterflies. Now an author of middle-grade and young-adult fiction as well as a nurse, she currently resides with her husband and two daughters in the beautiful New Mexico desert.

Marisa Blake is a full-time bilingual (Spanish/English) voice actor who specializes in audiobooks, e-learning, cartoon and video-game voices, and commercials. Passionate about children’s literature, she created the YouTube channel Miss Bee’s Audio Reads and regularly volunteers with Learning Ally, an organization that records audiobooks for children with learning disabilities. When not narrating, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three boys in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina.
