I'm actually sad that I finished reading this book!...It was pure enjoyment! Mann's writing style is enticing, real, and enveloping....I wouldn't be surprised if I find myself reading it again and again...--Sportsgal_99
SUCH A GREAT STORY!! It was written so well! The details were amazing, and had me on an emotional rollercoaster. I loved every bit of it!!! --Maromi1993
Debut novel a winner...with a click of a button I started reading "Intoxicated," and didn't let up until I got to the very end. It was that good..."Intoxicated" deserves the five-star rating I gave it as I truly loved it.-- Kindle Customer
Good, steamy read about two people who initially think they couldn't be more wrong for each other.
Ally is coming off of a horrible break up after finding her current boyfriend in bed with her best friend. Jack is a playboy, never wanting to spend more than a night with the same woman. They meet at the bar where Jack works and Ally goes to drown her sorrows. Jack is immediately drawn to her even if she is nothing like the woman he normally goes for.
Although I enjoyed both characters, I admit that Ally sort of annoyed me at times. I couldn't connect with why she struggled to experience pleasure with Jack. This would make sense if her ex put her down when they were intimate or something but there is no mention of it. Then she hides her past from him and gets incredibly angry when he hides his from her (even though she knew part of it).
My only complaint with this story is that it lacked closure. While some parts were addressed I felt like the elephant in the room (I don't want to give too much a way) was never addressed. Perhaps this is addressed in the next book in this series.
** ARC received from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review **
A lot. Just not sure if I loved it. The ending I kinda had trouble with. I get irritated with a book ending after they spend a chunk of time apart, meet again, and in the next paragraph they're in love forever...The end.
There are no breakups and makeups that actually happen this way. Seriously...no. so therefore giving it five stars it could have received isn't possible because it feels like the writer just got bored with this couple and their story and chose to close the book, and that's a real shame. The neat little bow she tied at the end didn't stay tied.
This is a very cute read. I Loved Jack, Ally and Randy's characters, their storylines were believable and easy to follow.
Jack is the very handsome bartender at both Felony and Jameson bar. Women throw themselves at him for just a glimpse of his skills in the bedroom. The problem is that they always seem to want more and Jack doesn't do relationships or love. One night, no repeats, that all that he offers. Take it or leave it and if you leave it, someone else will be waiting to take it.
Ally is a straight laced, prim and proper, workaholic account that just caught her fiance cheating on her with her roommate. Going to Felony is one of her guilty pleasures. The fact that the bartender easy on the eyes with a body that she would love to be under is an added bonus.
Ally knows that Jack, bartender extraordinaire is a womanizing manwhore, but she can't seem to stay away. Jack knows that Ally is way out of his league, but he can shake the attraction between them.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
Ally is a CPA. A week or so ago, she caught her fiance' in bed with her best friend, now they are both out of her life.
Jack is a bartender/manager. He is managing a club and a bar for his Uncle. Felony, the club, is in a not so nice neighborhood but he is working hard to clean the place up.
Ally has been to Felony plenty of times. It's a place to drink and dance and blow off steam. She goes there one night after work. Sitting at the bar, she watches as the women try to score with Jack, vying to be the one he leaves with that night.
They are chatting and she tells Jack about the ex and Jack tells her she deserved better anyway and suggested they get together. She refuses telling him he is basically a prostitute. He gets offended, tells her there is no money involved, that he loves women and sex also. He also doesn't promise them a tomorrow, it's just sex. He also asks her out to a concert but she says no.
Ally is very attracted to him and has been. She is sad because of the breakup but she is also a lonely woman. She doesn't have a lot of self confidence. She has a close friend who is in England for school and isn't really close to her family. All she does is work hard and long hours.
The next day, Jack brings her lunch at her job and she is shocked! They have lunch and talk and she decides she will have "just sex" with him, He takes her out later, to a lake, with a wine and cheese picnic.
This is the beginning of Ally and Jack.
Jack is a typical bad boy. What I like about Jack is that he doesn't BS and he doesn't apologize for his ways. What he didn't tell Ally is that he is tired of the empty sex with these women. He works hard trying to make the club and bar successful.
Ally is very black and white and wants to have control over everything she plans. She moved a lot as a kid as her father was a Marine. Her mother had a mental illness and left the family. Her Grandparents raised her until she was 16, when her father left the Marines. He isn't the most affectionate man to her but has plenty of women.
Ally needs Jack to shake up her world and make her feel again. She is just afraid of getting attached to him. She isn't happy about the parade of women, even though he doesn't promote their attention.
Will Jack and Ally continue this "sex only" arrangement and which one of their secrets will put the relationship in jeopardy?
I did like this book. The sex was pretty steamy. They both had their one big secret they didn't want to deal with and of course that certainly rocked the boat.
Ally and Jack taught each other trust and eventually love which frightened them both. This was a good read and I certainly can't wait to read more of the Felony series!
