I purchased my whip not for the normal use of a whip but when I am bike riding the dogs that chase after you.

This works GREAT its long enough to swat at the dog and keep riding.

Not that I am into animal cruelty but everyone who owns a dog is not responsible enough to keep them on a leash unless they are inside of a locked gate. I had a dog to literally force me off my bike and walk half a block to keep from being bitten the dog would literally sneak up on me each time I attempted to re-mount my bike to continue my ride.

Unfortunately, I had to buy this to use at the dog park. My dog was attacked by another dog who was not well socialized and a person was hurt having to reach down and pull the dogs apart. I bought this in case the situation occurred again. I also carry it now when I walk my dog in case another dog is not on a leash or a stray dog wanders up. I've never had to use it but so far just having it works.

First, I'd call it more of a riding crop than a whip. The shaft is semi-rigid, much like the end of a fishing pole, with the popper tied to the end. The handle and shaft are 36" long and the popper is roughly 5" and replaceable if it ever wears out. Since this is not a whip, don't expect to be able to snap it like you would a bull whip. I got it to help keep our three dogs wrangled in when we take them on trips. I use it around the house when I want them to move into/out of/away from something by swishing it in the air a few times then tapping it on their rears to encourage them in the direction I want. No reason to actually smack them with it, they don't like the swishing noise it makes in the air, so it's the perfect tool to train them to "do what he tells me when he raises that blasted whip"!

For less than $10, it seems really well made. Had it for a few weeks now and the handle-shaft connection seems strong and durable, the handle appears to be holding together nicely and if/when the popper frays/wears out, it can easily be replaced. Would certainly recommend if it fits your needs.

I bought this whip for BDSM play and it arrived broken at the tip! I called customer service and I had a new one within two days. I love the sound it makes and it's long enough to really swing it and get a good hit. I would buy from This company again.

This is really the best whip for the money. The ONLY dressage whip I could find with a handle. And they stand up to trail riding, etc. I bought a couple extra because at this price if you lose one it's no biggie, but once you have one you do not want to be without. One of the last bargains in horse tack.

It's as pictured, I did have to glue the looped end the first night. I bought this to use for getting my one year Rott pup's attention, but didn't want to really hurt her. She for sure does not like it, but I can't say it works as well as I'd hoped. Of course that isn't the fault of the whip, just that I have a really REALLY hard headed girl!!

Super whips for every day schooling in the dressage arena. They have just the right amount of play, not too stiff and not too supple and the price was right. Just wish they came in different/longer lengths, but 36" is adequate. Would buy again.

I should have read the reviews better first and would urge you to do the same - the photo is very misleading, this is not a "whip" in the traditional sense of something that flies around and goes "crack" like Indiana Jones had. This is A DRESSAGE WHIP - better known to those of us in the regular world as A CROP or A CANE. It is a 36" RIGID leather-wrapped very thin cane with a nice handle and a short stringy cracker at the end, but that's only about 5" long.

This might be just what you're looking for, as it's well made and is a nice item, but just be aware, this IS NOT a whip. IT DOES NOT LOOK OR ACT LIKE A "WHIP" - IT LOOKS AND ACTS LIKE A CROP WITH A STRING TIED TO THE END. As this thing is rather narrow, you can get some serious force behind it. It's nicely made, just cannot stress enough, this is a cane, this is NOT a "whip."
