The book is definitely meant for new users. Not much more information than the online help that comes with Revit. Some of the reviews I had read made it sound like there would be more advanced information included. Not so. A good resource for someone just starting to use Revit.

I bought this book 6 months ago, to learn Revit from scratch. I must say it is never away from my side when I use the Revit software. The content of the book is well structured. I like the fact that you can go to the website and download the RVT files (which are free)that are associated with each chapter of the book, so as you can do practical tutorials. The files can be downloaded in both metric or imperial format. The book has been written and presented in and screen shots of each step to suite users who are using imperial sizes, however they have included the written conversions to metric in brackets beside or above each dimension/size stated throughout the book.
I am three quarters of the way through the book and so far find it very thorough and easy to follow. I would highly recommend this book to those who have never used Revit before, however in my opinion I think it would be a great advantage if you have had some or a lot of experience of AutoCAD. This helped me to understand how Families/layers worked in Revit and how to bring in AutoCAD related files such as DWG into Revit. I now use Revit to produce 3d models from AutoCAD DWG file floor plans that I had created over the years using AutoCAD. I had never used Revit before I got this book. Now I prefer this software to AutoCAD.
I would also say it is a good reference book if you have forgotten how to do certain tasks or execute commands. Easy to back track and go forward referring to the chapters in the book.
Definitely a good investment for the Revit beginner!

I picked up this book as a complete Revit newbie a month or so ago. After reading many reviews i'm glad i settled on this book. It is written well and introduces Revit in a logical clear order.

As the title suggests it is great for beginners but I'm not sure how much experienced users wouldnt benefit from the content.

The online downloadable content is well organised and clear. Tasks throughout the book are well laid out and are described clearly.

I would highly recommend this book to any Revit newbie.
