It is very good book for a beginner, if you want really learn Linux using professional terms and understand environment and scripts it is the book to go. It applies real Linux/Unix terminology and explains it well. The quality of print is also first class; real US made product, not a cheapo/yellow that fails apart in your hands. This book will withstand the hardship of a reference book. I also appreciate its big format so you can comfortably read it and all graphics is clean and clear. I like that this book starts from the beginning and not in the middle of the subject. And it brings up really relevant subjects and concepts. It is very good book that is right on the subject.
It's easy to read and it covers nearly everything that an interested newcomer needs or wants to know about Linux (but it's also certainly more than just an introduction). Because of the well-structured setup you can easily find what you are interested in. Especially the appendices add to this user-friendly design.
