I thought writing this book would be easy; I've used and worked with LTM for years in various environments, I've solved every conceivable support and design issue going, I had a ton of material I'd already written for a website I used to run, I love technical writing, there wasn't much I didn't know right? Wrong! Despite all of that, when it came to writing this book, boy did I have to do a whole boat-load of unexpected research and at times I struggled; I've had to read a million manuals, scour forums and even post a few questions to them. The single book of everything F5 related turned into nine to make it more manageable and still this volume and it's counterpart have been over a year in the making. If you use BIG-IP, TMOS and LTM or are thinking of, even if you really think you know your stuff, you probably need this book. Here you'll find the low down on ADCs in general, F5 the company, the BIG-IP hardware and VE, every TMOS feature and OS, the HMS, TMM features and more. For a full understanding of all this and more, save yourself the time and trouble of scouring websites and forums and just get this book instead.Note this is the first of two volumes and the second covers LTM specific features.

Its a good introduction. Considering the topic - F5s, he has brought a good basic understanding to the devices that can be and generally are complicated.
This book did not work to well for me. It 's not well organized. I am new to F5 and I was looking for a more ABC approach to the technology. This book is all over the place, verbose and hard to follow. I kinda Like to get an introduction to the technology so I look for these type of texts to contain: 1. The Overview of Load Balancing Theory 2. The Paradigm/Theory of F5 and How it solves the problem of traffic management. How it applies it's algorithms. 3. Get me up and running in the lab. I would like to have a step by step on how to configure an LTM/GTM as the images are freely available. This book try to tackle to many topics for my taste.
Not what I thought. Kindle sample does allow you to see what you are fully buying. Hoping it would be more of a hands on training concept. looks to me googled subjects and pasted in. I skimmed through, don't plan on reading fully. First IT book I have been disappointed with.
