Sometimes she illustrates a card using the Crowley deck, sometimes Waite-Rider, sometimes both. Much of the text is given to describing the cards' appearance, which the reader can see for his or herself, with only a few short comments on the actual meaning. A variety of spreads are given, but I don't think she gives nearly enough detail on card meanings for a reader to do any kind of in-depth spread using this book.
I'd recommend Joan Bunning's book, or the books by Eden Gray, as two other options for beginners. If this were my first book, I'd find it frustrating.
If you always wondered what the stuff on the cards meant this book will give you the low down without being too intimidating. You don't even have to own any cards, there are pictures throughout the book. Its very interesting!! I enjoyed it, the pictures are wonderful to look a while you read :)
I love that there's a section with a "quick reference" guide to each card and their meaning, as well as a lot of different spreads to try out and creative ways to use the tarot cards aside from readings.
Recommendation to everyone that is looking for just a starting point.
Will be back to give a more in depth review once I get the book read & know everything that I can about the book.
