Another issue is setting up bank accounts. I spent hours trying to set up my online account at one of the largest banks in the world, and all I got was error messages blaming the issue on my bank. When I tried to connect to my bank account using a different accounting package, it connected instantly without any hassles.
In 1998, when i first bought QuickBooks it was the only game in town. Today, there are a dozen better alternatives such as Wave Accounting, FreshBooks, and others, which are free or nearly free, work right the first time, have more user-friendly interfaces, and won't be rendered obsolete after a few years.
I am the assistant manager for my very small family businesses. I am able to keep two business separate, write checks, automatically load the credit card and checking accounts for each business and graph the results. Our tax preparer at the end of the year says we are the most organized of all her business tax clients, yahoo!
Not a one of the directions supplied in any help section is set up appropriately for the Mac, meaning you have to freaking guess, what they mean as all of the instructions are written for the PC version, which is entirely different than Mac version. I bought this in haste bc while we have MacBooks, and also PC's, my laptop PC wasn't the one I wanted, and I needed to have something functional, and quickly for my new business. You'd be better off buying a separate PC, if all you have is a MAC, bc you'd regret every single minute of attempting to use this software on the MAC. Even my accountant, who has used Quickbooks for years, was perplexed by the set up and views in the MAC. He really couldn't help me wade my way through it. I had heard horror stories about how bad Quick books had gotten over the past few years, but this exacerbates those horror stories. Hard to believe there isn't another better game in town than this crapola !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I purchased this version because after all these years I switched to a Mac... so I bought the Mac version of Quickbooks. That was in the middle of 2015. Now 18 months later Apple updates El Capitan to Sierra, which I neglected to study before simply upgrading and Quickbooks doesn't work. I thought, you have to be kidding me, within 18 months a brand new software package no longer works simply because of an OS update and I have to buy another version of year Quickbooks at full price?
I have done my research on the new Quickbooks and there is no appreciable difference between 2015 and 2017. It's just naked greed to use an OS upgrade as an opportunity to force you to buy it again. So, my desktop iMac is the top of the line and can easily hold a 2nd partition with El Capitan on it. Last night I hit the button and loaded it overnight into it's own small partition. Easy peasy. I'll run the 2015 Quickbooks from it for as long as its convenient.
