Connor is the epitome of why you need to get to know people, not just take what they present to you. Instead of focusing on what they did, stop and wonder why they did it. He is always alone, and no one really pays any attention to him unless he does something they disapprove of. He is sweet, kind, loyal, friendly, sexy, athletic, and fun, and is overlooked by his band mates as a person instead of the qualities he possesses. He always feels alone, left behind, and isn't sure of his place, until Ballz and Annette come into his life
Ballz, or Balthazar as he prefers, works security for Winter's Wrath, and after years in the military working as a counselor, has been helping some band members work things out. He was re-buffed in those efforts by Connor, and rightfully so. The attraction between him and Connor has been on a slow simmer, but once Connor catches onto it, and starts to fan it, it becomes difficult to ignore. Balthazar is all about control though, and doesn't need a brat like Connor tempting him. He also has his job to consider, being involved with your charge makes it rather difficult to stay focused and protect them. Then there is Annette, another carefree, live in the moment musician from an opening band. He wants to see her as using Connor, but it doesn't look that way, and then there is how he is wanting to take her under his wing as well
Annette gave everything to XVI Hours, her talent, her heart to North, the lead singer, and her very soul. Two years later they have their big chance, and while she has finally accepted North isn't for her, and the band is showing some cracks, she is determined to make this work. She has given too much for this to fall apart. She is ready for fun when she meets Connor, and thus prompts her proposal the moment they meet. They have fun, they seem perfect for each other, and while she can't figure out Balthazar's problem, he doesn't stop her from being with Connor. It all seems so simple, yet so confusing, and there is no doubt that Balthazar is running the show
There is so much emotion in this book; So many tattered loyalties that are shown to be still strong; So many seemingly strong ties that are shown to be superficial; So many strong personalities that allow their weakness to shine, to let others help them out when needed, that sacrifice themselves to protect others. Prepare your heart and dive in, and steel yourself for the ending, you'll need it!
When a senseless attack leaves the drummer from Winter’s Wrath unable to play, their agent suggests that the drummer from XVI Hours step in, forcing the two bands to work together whether they like it or not.
Balthazar (Ballz) works security for Winter’s Wrath, He is a Dom and Connor brings out those intense feelings when he interacts with him, as does Annette . Connor hides his true feelings under a carefree and happy go lucky personna, but Balthazar can see through this to the vulnerable lonely man that he really is.
Balthazar, Connor and Annette's story drew me in even more than the previous books in this series; these three are so right for each other. They each bring a uniqueness to the relationship that works on so many different levels. I loved them all, separately and together, their scenes together hot and intense.
Can Balthazar brings these two under his control and guide them as he longs to do or will they all destruct? Inversion is a book full of self discovery, of loyalty and ultimately acceptance and love.
Bianca Sommerland peels the layers off these characters one by one. There are so many issues impacting all of the band members, and the depth that was created in these characters was so multi dimensional that I was in awe.
I love the direction that Ms. Sommerland has taken with Winter's Wrath and XVI Hours and I cannot wait for Tate’s story but considering the ending of this book I am sure it is going to be one emotional roller-coaster of a ride.
Inversion is a raw, emotional, gritty and sexy read and one I highly recommend.
Connor has always been the odd man out in their close-knit group. He belongs but doesn’t quite belong. He knows the band doesn’t understand his need to constantly be moving and active – but he’s never felt the need to tell them why. Let them think of him as just a dumb jock – he just needs to keep himself under control however he can.
Ballz sees further into Connor than anyone else, but even he doesn’t know the truth. He also doesn’t understand these strange feelings he is having toward the young guitarist. He’s determined to keep those feelings buried so he doesn’t risk his job as security for the band.
Annette is a member of the band XVI Hours, and is a woman who knows what she wants – mostly. When tempers flare, she’s usually the voice of reason. But when Connor gets under her skin, what will that do to the future of her band?
If Connor doesn’t have someone watching him, he’s bound to get into trouble. Even when there is, he often finds himself in the middle of it. Even if it isn’t of his making. When he meets Annette, they seem to sense a common bond – normal isn’t enough. A competitive challenge brings them to a new line of thinking, and opens the door to new experiences. Will Ballz crack a smile long enough to be part of a happy ever after?
Meanwhile, Tate’s past comes back to haunt him, and now we have to wait (impatiently) for the next in the series! What will happen to our dear little drummer??
