Product Description

Handsome design execution loaded with intriguing complications. This Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar timepiece from Invicta begins with a round reeded edge stainless steel case. Two function pushers and a push/pull crown on the east side of the case join with a single function pusher on the west side to put you in control of the Japanese Quartz 6U60 Perpetual Calendar movement. The timepiece contains a specially designed caliber hand made in Japan for Invicta. The perpetual calendar keeps you aware of the current date and month by accounting for the different number of days in each month and leap year and automatically making the appropriate adjustments. A repeater function allows you to determine the current time by listening to the chime sound played by the watch. Multiple alarm settings offer the convenient option of having daily or single instance reminders.Beneath a protective scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, black Roman numerals occupy all hour positions on the round silver-tone dial. A seconds subdial exists next to 3:00. The local time subdial featuring month and leap year indications appears near 7:00 while a coordinating AM/PM retrograde shows up between 4:00 and 5:00. A day retrograde/alarm set retrograde anchors between 10:00 and 11:00. The date scale circles the outer dial edge.An exotic genuine alligator strap with a rich black finish secures to your wrist with an Invicta logo etched buckle clasp in the color of the case. The strap fits wrist sizes up to approximately 8-3/4'.

The watch looks pretty good from the pics. In reality, you need a jeweler's loupe to read the day and date dials. The print is so small and the color is not very contrasted. The instruction booklet is one they send with all watches. Touches vaguely on everything, but doesn't say anything about setting this watch up. It made me think it was made in China--which it is. The movement is an old Citizen movement that I found a photocopied pdf on line for that would suffice. The case is very glossy black that makes me think it is painted and not PVD. I think I/m gonna return this one. It is a really interesting watch, but too hard to read once you found a manual to set it up.

This time piece is the best tradeoff among price, features and design. I own two.

    My personal list of requirements:

    1. Must have:

    - sapphire glass
    - water resistance (at least some basic level)
    - date and day of week
    - second hand
    - good build quality
    - reliability
    - proper hands fitting
    - < $500 price

    2. Highly desirable:

    - Classic design with Roman numerals
    - perpetual calendar
    - accurate time keeping
    - readability

    3. Nice to have:

    - Second time zone or World time
    - Alarm
    - ability to check time in the darkness

Based on these requirements my top3 list is:

    1st Invicta Minute Repeater
2nd Seiko Premier Perpetual Calendar (SNPXXX)
    3rd Citizen Men's World Perpetual A-T Watch (CBXXXX-XX)

Actually Seiko would be the choice #1, if it had a usual battery instead of kinetic drive, which allegedly does not last long.

Excellent watch. True what others say though, comes without instructions! The Bulova Millenia instructions available on line is the exact same watch. Expect to read, try and learn for a few hours to a day depending on how fast you find the manual on line. If anyone manages to buy this watch, I'd be happy to walk them through set up and send the manual along.

A beautiful compromise of history and the convenience of quartz. This is a minute repeater, meaning you can press a button for a chime of the current time, hour, quarter hour, and minute. So at 12:59 you're hearing quite a few electronic bell chimes. (12 hour gongs, 3 quarter hour signals, and 14 minute tones) Each tone is distinct and after a day or two you'll know what time it is in the pitch dark or if you have vision difficulties.

    (1) At first glance, the face of this multiple-complications watch could be a classic automatic - Breguet, perhaps, although the movement is quartz. But the bezel, and the strap (although leather) are less than classic. (2) More than a glance at the face is needed to tell the time owing to the multiple hands and numerous complications, but that's also true of some multi-$$K automatics. A pretty face, anyway, well-finished. (3) The real problem here is that owner-instructions aren't provided in the box or on the Invicta website, and an email query to the official Invicta help desk produced no response at all. Figure it out yourself? Possible, but consider that there are nine separate functions (apparent on the face), and at least nine possible control points (stem, stem out-1, out-2, turn clockwise, turn counterclockwise, top right button, etc. etc., and many more if you consider possible combinations. So it's an intriguing piece, unconventional, not expensive, but only suited for people who like puzzles and enjoy spending many hours solving them.
