Despite all of Mark's experience traveling through space, time and dimensions, he's still a bit immature and hotheaded. This is on display early in this volume, and it's a bit frustrating as a reader. The dialogue is simple and straightforward - it's a throwback to the silver age while at the same time covering some heavier issues that silver age comics avoided (gruesome deaths, sex, cheating, abandonment, tyranny).
I've enjoyed the entire run.
So… in the wake of [spoiler’s] death in the preceding volume, there are a lot of angry emotions flying around, especially when President Allen the Alien reveals that he orchestrated it in order to get Invincible and his father back on-side…
And so we begin the final battle, but with possible chinks appearing in Thragg’s armour, and Earth pushed into the front line by the ‘good guys’.
If you have been reading this for a while, then you will find the usual excellent quality of script and art. This series is going out as it has always gone on, with style (and hard work by the creative team).
The usual high standard here is accompanied by a lot of gory detail. This won't mean a lot unless you've read some, if not all, of the previous volumes.
