A HERO LIES WITHIN..a story a bout a young woman journalist that is working toward being the anchor on the evening news. She has a lot of personal issues. The mask she wears is one of total success and confidence. Her current job is working on a project of getting the public aware of some of the feel good stories that come out of the war. Her teenage boyfriend that she dearly loved has come back into her life. This story is VERY good. It is interesting as well as entertaining. It does have sex and a HEA. I highly recommend it.
ON HER OWN is a standalone read with a HEA. As a child Monica had a distant father and a mother that had one boyfriend after the other. She spent all her money on herself and parties. She was hateful and definitely did not have a bone in her body that aimed her toward being a mother. As soon as she was old enough Monica moved out and on her own. She continued to take money from her father but blamed him for everything wrong in her life. It really made her into a rude, angry young person. This is a long story about this bitter and angry young woman. I really didn't care for her at all. She does go through some desperate times a pregnancy that she was the surrogate, the parents flake out and she has twin boys to raise, thank goodness she has the support of her biological father and his new girlfriend. She meets Michael and her life changes again. It was an interesting read to get this young woman to her HEA.
SECOND CHANCE-Teen loves torn apart when an 18 year old disappears from her home. The story starts about 10 years later when her neighbor finds her living with his grandmother several states away from their home. There are a lot of lies, mystery, secrets, and of course a love story. It is a very good read, long, but an interesting story with several twists and turns. And as always, a HEA. 6/30/19
TWO HEARTS UNSPOKEN-Beth, 45 is the mother of a 20 yr. old autistic son. She has been on her own for years but she has managed quite well. Then her job goes away as the company folds. So she moves to a small town 8 hrs. away near her cousins and a new center for helping people like her son. She meets Zack, 38, a veteran with a lot of issues from a war injury and trying to start his life over. The two have an instant connection but she is older with an autistic son and he is deeply concerned about how his skin looks after so many burns. They reach a HEA and it is a sweet, uplifting love story for everyone. I enjoyed it. Good story.
THE BOOTLEGGER'S WIFE-This is based on a true story. A young woman is married to a mob boss. He is a big bootlegger and his henchmen all carry machine-guns. One night at their club it gets raided by the Feds. He gets away and she disappears. Everyone is looking everywhere for her, some even think she has drown. She has dyed her hair, got glasses, and then starts looking for a job. She winds up at the residence of a private detective. She is in the first trimester of her pregnancy and is living in constant fear of being found. This story is quite interesting for that period of time. This story ends part of the story. To get the rest of the story book 2 in the series has to be purchased. I really don't like that kind of deal. It is a good story and i think I will just take this ending. 7/1/19
WHETHER I LIVE OR DIE-This story is about an abused woman. I passed on it. I really don't like reading about this story line. I know it happens, etc. I see it in the news every day. I just don't read it for entertainment and that is the only reason I read.
THE JADE EMPEROR
I was not paid for these reviews. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to these authors. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 6/26/19
My favourite author Suzanne Jenkins' heart-warming story, The Jade Emperor, is my personal choice...here's my review of it: The Jade Emperor - a review by Rosemary Kenny
What happens when a long-lived marriage between teenage sweethearts, that has produced a brood of no less than six, (now adult) children drifts apart over time, so slowly that at first it's barely perceptible? A wife who has a satisfying career, dotes on her grandchildren and the fact that all her children are settled and happy in their various ways. Then add a husband, who has risen steadily in his job, that has reached its zenith, now holds only old age and empty days distantly beckoning, He feels rather neglected in favor of his offspring and that he's being left behind them, (let alone her career) so hides in his basement man-cave, brooding and withdrawn, allowing life to go on around him.
An all-too-common occurrence in these modern times and one barely worth documenting, one might think - but not so, in The Jade Emperor, by the incredible Suzanne Jenkins. After all, millions of middle-aged spouses drift along in increasingly resentful, or semi-detached marriages for decades, without anything causing a complete break.
Yet just as you might think maybe buying the book wasn't such a great move after all, a thunderbolt strikes at the heart of the couple's lives in a dramatic way, with the revelation that the husband fathered a child with a Vietnamese woman during his tour of duty there - and that son is now on their doorstep!
What happens next?
Will the arrival of a son who is biologically nothing to do with her snap the wife out of her comfortably happy existence?
Will the husband accept that the truth - and his military past - has caught up with him at long last?
Can they get past this stranger's encroachment on a settled family life that has become somewhat humdrum?
How will the couple's other children react when they learn the circumstances of their new half-brother's existence - will they side with their mother against him?
A far from 'cozy' mystery/romance, The Jade Emperor, is many things - a modern morality tale, the story of a war veteran, who left behind a legacy of the war he knew nothing of until now, how unexpected events can rise phoenix-like from the past, changing the dynamics of future relationships and much more.
Don't miss it!
No blow by blow sex scenes, which liked about these books. Just great stories, well done ladies!
