Strike Two he's a womanizer but oh my I can't help falling for Weston. He's not your typical musician but Emilia her past she has her reservations. She's yellow Gel. We start right at the prologue and when I say be ready for the angst the emotional heartbreak because it's coming . Emilia why oh why! So frustrating yet I love it. This is an amazing debut and I'm so heartbroken and in love with this story .
Emilia makes a promise to herself. Never fall in love with a musician. Well that's gonna be hard after she runs into Weston Carter. He's sexy, sweet and confident. After a bit of hesitation from Emilia the two finally form a relationship. But Weston is an up and coming musician who is about to be one of the biggest superstars around. But he warms his way into Emilia's life proving that he's not the guy she thinks he is. Emilia gets some unexpecting news and makes a decision that will change her and Weston's lives forever.
I thought Emilia was selfish. She lied and hid things. I went from liking her to completely hating her. I didn't agree that what she did was the right decision. I was very upset about the way she handled things. She had plenty of chances to come clean but she chose not too.
“I'm still very much in love. The kind of love that you write invisible love letters for. The yellow gel kind of love.”
I loved Weston from the moment he was introduced. He had it all. Charm, passion, good looks, humor, great personality. He loved hard. He's just a great guy and I fell so hard for him. He was not the kind of guy I was expecting.
Jeremy was pretty cool too. Once again, we have two great guys vying for the attention of a woman, who in my opinion, doesn't deserve either one.
Why are these guys so easy on these girls? The last couple books I've read where the girl loves 2 guys, the guys forgive her or go easy on her. I don't get it. This woman lied to both of you. She played you both. You're just gonna let her off the hook? I don't think so.
Why, why do these amazing men fall for these stupid dimwitted girls? Is marriage like an extra curricular activity or something? Oh let's just marry any man who will have me, even if he's not the love of my life. Let's just settle instead of following our heart. Wtf?
That ending though! Cliffhanger city. Good thing I have the second book and I can dive right in. I have to find out what happens between these two.
This was my first book by Callie Anderson and even though I despised Emilia most of the time, I was not disappointed. There are some female heroines that you hate so much that it ruins the book and there are some you hate so much that it actually make the book better. Em drove me crazy but at the end of the day her character was wrote perfectly. This was a great read. Looking forward to getting inside Weston's head in the next book.
Typically, I do not write reviews for the simple reason I do not feel I can do the work justice. I have to feel very compelled to write a review and in this case I do.
I had not heard of this book or author prior to the Kindle email, but again, so happy I got the memo (LOL!)
Wow, let's start there. 3 little letters that sum up my feelings of awe, love, wonder, contentment, shock, emotional upheaval..yes, it has it all.
The lead characters are electric and admittedly, I became emotionally invested in the storyline and characters. For me, the mark of a great read is being moved, having the story resonate long after I close the Kindle and I have no doubt this will be one for me.
I wanted to throttle Emilia so many times that my fingers are cramped from holding the Kindle so tightly, but I understand her feelings of insecurity which led to some questionable and poor choices. Weston, well..yum, new book boyfriend. What's not to love and swoon over with this dish of musical goodness?
This has something for everyone and I highly recommend it. It was one of my TOP reads of 2015 and Callie Anderson is firmly placed on my 'must-read' radar.
