But what if you take it a step further. What if you dispense with office buildings entirely and have everyone work from home? How much would you save on real-estate, electricity and utilities, gas, janitorial services and the like? How much would the workers save on gas, laundry, and childcare or elder-care? How much commuting time would be saved? And how much of the getting to work on time frustration and anxiety would dissipate?
This is not a pipe dream. Russo contends that not only is this possible, but gives you step-by-step directions on how to pull it off. He lists and tackles objections systematically. For example: "I'll lose control of my company" is just not so. You may actually get a better handle on your company because the only way you will succeed in such an endeavor is by putting in place detailed tracking systems that will probably give you better information than you are using presently.
Such a set up is what Russo calls an invisible organization and the key to pulling this off is great communication and simple but robust measurement systems. And he shows you how to do the former and set up the latter.
You don't have to do this all at once. You can do it in bits and pieces. And either your profits will balloon or you will be able to pass such huge savings to your customers that you become an unbeatable market force.
Well worth reading and implementing.
In this book he lays out a complete system to go from a regular business with offices, leases and high overheads - to an 'invisible' organisation - where people can work for you from anywhere in the world.
While most business owners may try to implement this and carry on with 'business as usual,' to properly go invisible you need rock solid systems in place.
There are unique challenges that come along with having virtual staff. Mitch proves that this can be done. In many cases people will be more motivated to work for your company on their own terms and from a location of their choosing. But there are pitfalls if this isn't done properly. Which is where this book's value lies.
If you want to run a business that's mobile, with low overheads and where you can draw on the best talent - regardless of where you are in the world - then this is the book for you.
Everyone knew Chet for being a brilliant strategist and salesman, but what wasn't known was how the organization was able to scale due to Mitch's behind the scenes operations management. I worked closely with him to implement many of the systems and learned a lot about what it actually takes to scale companies from him. I was very fortunate to have him and Chet as mentors early on in my career!
Whether you're tired of losing talent to more progressive organizations, or want to streamline how your business is already operating, this book is a brilliant guide on the systems Mitch has implemented and how you can do it, too.
