Slowly been putting together a few survival kits. While there's some debate about using Iodine vs chlorine/bleach for water treatment especially for longterm use, I'm a big believer in having a few different solutions around the house, in my car and at camp. This Iodine tincture is designed for topical treatment (largely cleaning a wound), but has a dual purpose of being able to treat water for bacteria and make it drinkable (even though it says it's a poison). Now, I wouldn't want to do this long term....but for a 72 hour survival situation, this liquid iodine is a handy piece of kit with a few different uses, and versatility is clutch in emergency or survival situations. I would read up on precisely how to treat water and the effects/benefits/comparison between iodine vs chlorine/bleach based treatments (as well as physical filters for water)...as there are a lot of pros and cons, but as a first-aid topical treatment, Iodine is great. Has a long shelf-life. It can stain and there are clear versions of Iodine, but I like being able to "see" where the Iodine goes.
I bought this product to test my iodine levels. You put a test patch on our skin and if it disappears in less then four hours you are iodine deficient. I found out I was starting to take an iodine supplement and noticed the fog i was in quickly disappeared in less then two weeks. In addition my belly fat has started to disappear as i continue to take an iodine supplement.
This works great. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. The Dr. wrote prescription for Synthroid. After doing research and find out the deleterious side effects, I opted for a more natural approach. I ("DUCK DUCK GO - ed") natural treatments for low thyroid and found I could use this product to treat hypothyroidism. The advantage is I use it transdermally (on my skin) and the body will only absorb what it needs. I just reordered another bottle because I don't want to run out. I will get tested shortly to see what my levels are at. Read the suggestions and discover what works for you. (This is not medical advice) It is amazing to find out what food manufacturers put in processed foods and how it affects of bodies.
Secondary product. Got this to test my need for J.CROW'S® Lugol's Solution of Iodine 2% (4 Bottles of 2 oz.). Smeared a small dollop on my thigh, and the iodine mark disappeared within an hour indicating that I needed to suplement my diet with Logol's Solution. Three drops per day does it.
Haven't seen this for years and I had a cut on my face from flying debris while weed-wacking. Thought of iodine instantly and ordered it. Now when I get a cut etc... I can rely on this to help. It stings like a bee but a day later I feel 10x better than when using neosporin!
I wish the manufacturers would put this in a larger size--double and that it was in a glass bottle to keep it lasting longer. Also this comes with the "wand" instead of a dropper. I used to have this stuff all over as a kid so it brought back memories. Still I wish the makers would take my suggestions! Good product, I keep it on hand mainly to treat water should I need to--plastic containers would make this handy for hikers.
Growing up Mom always had Iodine Antiseptic around the house. It always stung on a scrape or sore. But, Mom said it would help and after the sting, it did help it to heal better. I thought I had some Iodine in my medicine cabinet and realized I did not have any. Iodine was always around in families medicine cabinet. Plus, it helps sores heal faster and is always a good antiseptic to have around when these injuries happen. I am a big believer in Iodine antiseptic. The package arrived in good condition. The price was reasonable, and Mom always said, after the sting, it would help the injury heal better. Mom, always knew what was better!
