I do not like that it is slippery because of the hard case without and side grip design and it does not come with a belt clip of any sort (which I would not use anyway).
I hope this video and review was helpful -- wish you all well.
The fit around the buttons and ports is spot-on. The side buttons work flawlessly on my copy, and Ionic even left a bit of extra room so you can get your finger in there to pull out the S Pen. However, as others have mentioned, the soft inner liner could stand to be a bit more snug, especially at the top and bottom, which get pulled away when you slide the phone in and out of your pocket. It's not huge issue, but that action may cause the edges to warp over time. It also allows more lint to get into the liner at the top and bottom ends. The problem doesn't affect the sides much (or at all) because the hard outer shell wraps around and holds them snugly. The product description states that the back can be removed for better grip, but then the sides are also left surprisingly loose. To be clear, the fit looks fine when the phone's just sitting there. But as soon as you pick it up it's clear the edges aren't gripping very tightly. It just seems a tighter fit would be preferable.
The other issue is the cutout for the headphone jack. Out of the four pairs of headphones and earbuds I own, not one could be completely plugged in while the cover was in place. The only solution--aside from removing the whole thing altogether--is to peel back the top edge of the inner liner, easy to do since, as I mentioned, it's definitely loose enough even with the back shell on. I wonder if a slight design modification could be made to solve this problem, or if it's unique to my copy (I haven't read about this problem in other reviews I've seen).
Besides protection from an accidental drop, there's another reason I purchased this case. The GN2 is a big, heavy, SLIPPERY son of a gun! And as slim as it is, the edges provide very little area to grip. Attempting to take a photo one-handed was making me uncomfortable when the phone had no protection. The GUARDIAN case provides just enough texture and extra edge volume for more confident handling. The hard plastic back is still somewhat slippery, and I wouldn't mind a more grippy texture on the sides. But it's a big improvement compared to holding the bare phone.
Not everyone will agree, but aesthetically, I love this design. I think it has a good look and feel, and I like the circles on the back where there soft parts show through. It's not for everyone, but some people will love it.
One last note. It seems phones these days no longer come with wrist-straps, let alone a place on the phone to attach one. The strap I had on an older SAMSUNG I owned frequently saved the day, and I really wished there was a way to use one with the GN2. Luckily, a strap is easily threaded through the rear-speaker cutout on the GUARDIAN should, you choose this added level of safety.
Except for the things I mentioned, I believe this is an excellent case and I strongly recommend it. The value makes other products seem ridiculously overpriced.
After a month and a half of using this came the edges of the phone are scratched up and I have a couple small spots where either the silver rubbed off the phone's edge trim. So while my phone is surely in better shape than with no case, it definitely does not provide the protection of a TPU style case. The case itself is starting to wear out where I normally place it down on my desk/table. So back to a TPU for me as even though it looks nicer, for me the point is to balance looks with protection for eventual resale.
I was really hoping for a case whose edges were non-slip and provided a better grip on this large phone (phablet, if you prefer!). The second piece could have easily been made to do that. As it is, it's hard to grasp the phone to pick it up, since the sides are slick. I actually borrowed a carpenter's file from my husband and roughened them up a bit but it didn't help very much.
I give the case 4 stars because it's well made and very protective, but I would have liked the outer edges to make the phone easier to grasp and hold onto.
