This book is a definite Must for all researchers of Irish families. Written by Edward Maclsayght D.Litt., M.R.I.A., formerly Chief Herald of Ireland and Chairman of the Irish Manuscripts Commission, it is an-depth examination of the main Irish families.

The book contains no less than 6 Appendices showing the types of various surnames. It contains 243 coloured images of family crests, each with a description of the shield and crest.
