Her characters are well-developed, her plots are simple and mature, and the dialogues all have authentic feels. The Irish sprinkled in made it feel really natural. Ms. Herkness is a good story teller and I look forward to more of her books.
The Wagers of the Heart series is so great to begin with. This novella can definitely be read as a standalone if you haven't read the first two books that won't make this one any less beautiful, but reading them first and knowing the story behind the wagers makes it so much more enjoyable. Especially the scene where Frankie has a drink at her own club.
Although I always liked Frankie as the enigmatic club owner from the Wagers series, I didn't know that I needed Frankie's backstory in my life until I read this novella. This second chance romance is so beautifully told, and I loved everything about the way that Liam courted her, despite her hesitation to get involved with him. I want to stay as spoiler-free as possible, but their first date and the tree scenes were absolute perfection (I laughed at how they transported the Christmas tree and I absolutely covet her decorations!!). The snowy balcony scene was one of my favorites from this entire series.
SPOILERS IN THIS PARAGRAPH: Frankie's reaction to Owen was heartbreaking, especially after the effort that she had put in to trying to make friends with him to begin with. My heart absolutely ached for her when she panicked, and that is a huge testament to Nancy Herkness' ability to write an emotional scene – this one was beautifully heartbreaking. I loved that Liam was going to protect Owen from Frankie's well-intentioned extrication plan, and that she eventually, slowly worked her way through her issues and came out stronger in the end.
This novella was such a sweet and sexy holiday read, and it fits perfectly into this series. If you have read this series, you're going to love Frankie's story. If you haven't (you totally should), you'll enjoy this as a sweet Christmas second-chance standalone. I am so looking forward to Gavin and Allie's story!
Frankie Hogan is well protected at the bar. Liam shows up and he was the one to rescue her when they were younger. He's an athlete and well known.
Prince is there to oversee the facility that is being built and he plans to stay in NY.
Story follows each of them and goes back in time to when they were younger and the struggles they've overcome over the years.
Interesting career, liked learning about them. Hot steamy sex is implied at the beginning but there's a lot of years between them, as always.
When his son shows up it upsets her in many ways. Will they ever be able to be together?
Have not read the others in this series but there's enough of them in this one to make me want to read them. Erotic sex scenes.

As some who's in n between Frankie and Liam's ages I soo wish I'd liked this more, soo many stories where the MC's are in their late 30's forget 40's, usually talking about how their run down by life and kids or kids in collage, and Heaven forbid their over 40 then their supposed to be grey haired fogeys who think their too old for anything... But what if,if you in your 40's going your late 20's w/the sometimes maturity of somewhere between 12 - 24 and is still trying to find your place and life and experience all it has to offer and find that "true love" you haven't been blessed w/?!? Ok, maybe not the biggest market out there but write it well and WE WILL COME!!!
Thank you... On KU give it a try ;)
