I have of all of Sarah Lurie's Iron Core dvds which include volumes 1,2, and express dvds, plus her newest Iron Core Warrior 2-disc set. Iron Core Bootcamp just followed up on the heels of Iron Core Warrior as the newest one yet. This dvd is great! I find this one a little less intense than Warrior. Iron Core Warrior has very dynamic, intense exercises, where as with Iron Core Bootcamp, I felt like I could catch my breath a little better. However, don't be fooled, this one will sneak up on you, and I was still sweating and breathing hard by the time I completed the whole workout. The dvd is about 30 minutes long and consists of 4 sets of 5 exercises performed and you will not put the kettlebell down until you've completed the 5 exercises. There is a 30 second break in between each set. The exercises are as follows: single leg deadlift/row combination, alternating clean, squat/snatch combo, tactical lunge, and finally alternating swing. The alternating swing is for a full minute, and the combos are 30 seconds on each side, so you are continuously moving for about 5 minutes each set. I like that Sarah starts off with a less intense first exercise in the set, so you get warmed up a little before she really gets going! The treat for me is the ab circuit after you complete the 4 sets of exercises. You will do no floor abs in this circuit as Sarah incorporates the tabata style training which is 20 seconds on, 10 seconds off of high intensity training. You will do all swings here starting with left arm swing, right arm swing, two arm swing, and alternating swing. So you swing the kettlebell with the left arm for 20 seconds, rest for 10 seconds, swing the kettlebell with the right arm for 20 seconds, rest for 10 seconds, and so on.Read more ›

When I first started using kettlebells several years ago, I had Sarah Lurie's Iron Core 1 & 2 for awhile. Eventually, I found kettlebell workouts that I liked better, so I got rid of those DVDs. However, I've been interested in trying this one for awhile, mainly because of its shorter length.

Lurie exercises alone here, teaching live in a large brick studio. She uses a single 25# kettlebell for all of the exercises--impressive, especially given that she was several months pregnant when this DVD was filmed! Lurie does not mirror cue, but most of the time, she does not say right-left, so this is rarely an issue. This is a very basic intermediate kettlebell workout. There are four rounds--each of which is EXACTLY the same--consisting of five exercises each. Each exercise is performed for about a minute, and Lurie moves quickly from one exercise to the next. There is a one minute rest between rounds.

The list of exercises appear on-screen before each round as follows:

*single leg deadlift/single arm row combo
*alternating clean
*squat/snatch combo
*alternating tactical lunge
*alternating swings

The Main Menu allows you to Play All or to choose each round individually. There is also an Abs Circuit listed. I wound up selecting this as a warm-up since there is no warm-up or cool-down on the DVD. It turns out that the "abs circuit" is a 3 1/2 minute section of all swings, 20 seconds on, 10 seconds rest. Lurie does singles left, singles right, doubles, alternating, alternating. This concludes the workout, clocking in at just under 30 minutes.

I wound up doing two rounds (plus abs) of this routine; that was enough for me. This is certainly a decent kettlebell workout, but personally, I don't enjoy repeating the exact same exercises over and over again. Given this plus the lack of warm-up/cool-down, I don't think that this one will be a keeper for me.

Just got my copy of Iron Core Boot Camp today and, as usual, Sarah Lurie does not disappoint! The circuits seem so simple that you think you won't get a good workout but by the third circuit your heart is pumping and the sweat is pouring. And I only used a 15 pounder! The setting is simple so you can focus on her and her description of each move is very clear and easy to follow. My next purchase will definitely be the Iron Core Warrior set because I know I can count on a good full body workout with these DVD's.

Another awesome workout from Sarah Lurie. By far the best and most challenging workout I have ever done. I will never do anything else. The results you see from this workout are amazing and you don't have to spend hours in the gym. Can't wait for the next video to be released.

I got a good workout with this DVD, however she demonstrates ONE routine, and does it FOUR times. I could have looked up a 5 minute routine on YouTube and played it four times, instead of spending close to $20 on this item.

I've been working out with kettlebells for a couple years and this video helped me to challenge myself and change up my routine. It's not the most sophisticated video but then again neither are kettlebells and that's the whole point. No fru-fru just a good old-fashioned, make you sweat, kettlebell dvd.

I have been doing kettlebell workouts now for over a month. I started with Lauren Brooks and really enjoy her stuff. I was looking for a little variety, and so I started looking into the Iron Core series. I choose the Boot Camp workout and I am glad I did.

This workout consists of 4 sets of the same series of moves. 5 moves total. A single leg deadlift with row combo, alternating cleans, squat and snatch, tactical lunges, and alternating swings. Also an ab section at the end.

I love that this is 27 minutes long and packs a great punch. I would now like to get more in this series.
