Top Customer Reviews
Decided to go with this based on the brand and review and price.
Fits slimly against wall and mounted easily.
Finished the outside with a combo polyurethane and stain finish since it raw wood when it arrives and I wanted to avoid fingerprints and other scuffing type marks.
Great value for the price and quality of the product. Nice to have the board available so easily. Getting the board down takes just a minute or so, and getting it out of the way is just as easy. I did mount the case over a wall receptacle, so there is no great distance for the cord to stretch.
One star removed in that I had to do some disassembly to mount to the wall. The design flaw is that when one mounts the unit to the wall, it is done so via one of two centerline mounting holes. Unfortunately, the centerline mounting hole is obstructed by some of the structure that supports the board regardless of the boards position (up or down). So, you have to remove the board support to be able to screw the unit the wall. Not a huge deal, but for some, a very big deal I suspect. I am referring to the mounting hole on the bottom. (see attached video if this is not clear).
In short: We would buy again, very happy with the product and value.
But I installed it in new construction and it fits easily between 2 studs at 14 1/2" or you can surface mount it and it only sticks out about 3".
It can be stained or painted. some reviews said theirs was not properly assembled and I was ready to put in more screws if necessary but mine was solid. Well worth the money.
I had expected lightweight wood and cheap construction and this unit certainly has those. What I didn't expect was the total lack of care in the assembly of the unit. Had they bothered to put the door on straight I would have given it 4 stars but as it is, I have a cabinet that will never close properly and will always have a door that hangs sideways. I'm torn between returning it for a refund or taking it apart and putting it back together again they way it should have been done the first time. There's just no reason for such poor QC in any product.dd
It was pretty ugly, to be honest, but I added some trim and a knob, and now it looks very nice.
