I purchased the TEETER (EP 860) through HSN.
AND I purchased the IRONMAN IFT 4000 through Amazon.
So, I am able to COMPARE the two.
The BEST Teeter and Ironman incline tables are BOTH wonderful products!
I believe that EVERY adult should have one!
But the IRONMAN is the best VALUE, and simply the BEST selection.
A highly ATHLETIC person might prefer the TEETER because one can hang freely in full inversion (i.e. 100%) while the table snaps out of the way.
By contrast, for the IRONMAN, the maximum inversion is close to 95%. So, one’s back will always have at least a little contact with the incline table.
The Ironman table is a little easier to return to the upright position without risking getting stuck in full inversion - because it never inverts more than 95%.
The Teeter, by contrast, fully inverts and then it gently SNAPS into the fully inverted position. Therefore, to start the process of returning to the upright position, one must know enough to pull the inversion table flush with one’s back and wait - to slowly start the process of returning to the upright position. Otherwise, a novice not knowing this (and having failed to study the instructions) might dangle in full inversion until help arrives.
People complain about the COMFORT of the lower leg/ankle clamps of BOTH company’s BEST inversion tables, but the COMFORT for BOTH company’s inversion tables can be EASILY dramatically improved by sandwiching SPONGES (or equivalent cushions) below and over each ankle. I use: “QEP XL All Purpose Sponges.” These are available at Home Depot AND thru Amazon.
It is a little harder to sandwich-in sponge cushions for the Teeter because the Teeter’s ankle clamps do not separate as much as in the Ironman. So, some trial and error practice is required for the Teeter.
I have serious concerns about the worthlessness of some of Teeter’s accessories: “acupuncture nodes” which attach directly to the table!; a hard plastic, variable: “lumbar support” – that hurts! These do NOT work. And persons who purchased Teeter’s Inversion Boots are not happy with those either –read the reviews.
The Teeter incline table is made of hard plastic, which IS comfortable enough (provided that you do NOT try to use the variable plastic “lumbar support”).
By contrast, the Ironman comes with a memory-foam covered table, which is SUPER comfortable.
Both are wonderful, but the Ironman is BY FAR the better VALUE.
Assembly can be a bear. Really have to go through the instructions in advance and then look forward as you are assembling to make sure you aren't missing any steps. Definitely a two person job. Probably took a couple of hours for us to assemble.
Relative to the device itself, turned on the heater to make sure it was functioning properly. It did heat up after a bit, although if you are expecting a deep heat similar to a good heating pad, you won't find it here. Have only used the heating function once for an extended period. If you are using the heat for about 10 minutes while you are inclined, don't waste your time. If you are sore and want some heat for an extended period of time, then just lay on it like a table and grab some heat for an hour or so.
The table height adjustment is relatively simple. It swings very easily without a great deal of effort. 180 degree inversion works great and the handles to hold yourself in that position are perfect. The only huge negative to date is the foot/ankle clamps can really hurt your foot while inverted. Must say, when using sneakers can barely fit my ankles inside the clamps and I'm not a large person. Much too tight and no adjustment to widen that area. So, have resorted to going barefoot and then wrapping both the front and back sides with the remnants of an old memory foam pillow. Still hurts to a degree and we in the processing of developing a long-term custom solution that works for us. Too, the clamp release button/bar can be finicky and sometimes won't release without a lot of effort. Finally, it is making a clicking sound at one point while rotating, but for the life of us we cannot figure out where it is. Maybe where the table is seated into the frame is making this sound. No idea.
The only counsel I would give to all is to buy an extended warranty. This product only has a 1 year warranty on essentially the frame and then 90 days on everything else. That doesn't pass muster with me on a product this expensive, so went ahead and purchased a 3 year Squaretrade warranty on fitness equipment just in case. I couldn't imagine spending the type money some Teeter tables command for essentially doing what I see this table as doing.
The stretching and inversion was relaxing and not scary at all. I don’t have a lot of strength right now and was able to pull myself up easily.
Definitely wait the two hours after eating. :-)
The box it came in was extremely heavy and beat up. One of the feet of the unit was damaged but still usuable. They should consider double boxing or a stronger box. Rest of the until was fine, the packing foam was just disintegrated due to getting knocked around.
