**Use & Care**
Wash Ironwood Gourmet products in warm, soapy water and thoroughly rinse with clean water. Do not soak. To dry, prop up off of counter to allow all surfaces to air dry evenly. Wood products should never be washed in the dishwasher.
After drying, rejuvenate and protect the wood by rubbing it down with Ironwood Butcher Block Oil. Apply the oil liberally and allow it to soak in thoroughly before use. Regular application of our Butcher Block Oil will prevent cracking and preserve the rich natural colors of the wood.

The bigger issue is the splintering after one light hand wash. I don't like little pieces of wood in my pizza or stuck in my throat.
However, when it comes to cooking with it. Even with ample flour I found it difficult to slide pizza's around on it compared to plastic or metal. That wouldn't have earned such a poor rating however on its own. After baking the pizza shown in the images, I ran warm water (no soap) over it and used the non abrasive side of my sponge to rub it down to get any excess flour/grease off it and it began to shed/have textures from the grains of the wood. It feels more like raw wood now instead of finished wood and the look has already faded/dulled. I expected it to lose some of its luster after using it, and I know some wood oil will restore the color but the grainy texture that became worse after just one use has left me to wonder if it should be used in cooking at all. Maybe I didn't wash it correctly, but I felt like I was being careful with it.
Looks magnificent on the wall though, which is where I suppose it will stay now.
220 grit sand paper lightly go over the whole face of the peel with even pressure until you feel the rough patches gone, go back and do the same thing with 1000 grit. Apply several coats of bar keeps butcher block conditioner. They look BETTER and are SMOOTHER than new also they are 30$ each now....the hell with that, not worth 30$
