Alex does't think anyone would understand him and his love of wearing pretty lacy panties. But then Kyle catches onto his secret and armed with a package of rainbow guilt cookies he tries to sway Alex out of his shell.
From start to finish I was both smiling at how sweet Kyle and Alex are together and fanning myself with how hot they are. The two start hot and heavy but they stay sweet and vulnerable at the same time. Alex had a bad experience once before and isn't too open to trying something with Kyle, but he can't deny what Kyle makes him feel-safe, cared for, and worthy.
I loved the relationship they build. Once they get together they learn each other in all the big and small ways.
Who knew that two guys with a kink for panties would be hot? Kate Hawthorne and EM Denning did and they are correct. I loved all the scenes that describe their play time and photo sessions.
Alex finds a confidence in himself thanks to Kyle's love for him, something that is obvious when Alex stands up to his venomous ex. My heart went out to Alex many times over the course of the book. His self-confidence was at an all time low and I just wanted to hug him and take all his pain away. That's where Kyle comes in and helps Alex realize how strong he really is for who he is.
Both of these characters embrace who they are. Even if it takes a little while. They both embrace the love they have for one another, and with the help from Kyle's sister and Alex's best friend they learn to get out of their own heads and let themselves be loved. Something that means so much to so many. These characters have a unique kink, neither expected to find someone who would understand them and that is important. With Kyle and Alex embracing who they are individually and together it's showing the readers that it's okay to be a little different. Whether that crossed the minds or the authors or not it's a good message to have.
These two authors are great individually. I love reading their words. Together they are awesome. They seamlessly wrote a book about two guys who find their love for each other in cookies, crepes, and panties. I would love to see more collaborations from these two, though I am never going to be able to look at crepes the same way again.
So.. let me start by saying I was ridiculously excited for this book from the second Kate Hawthorne and EM Denning announced it. Like.. ridiculously. I started it the very second it hit my kindle and WOW, I was not disappointed!! This book is one sexy ride, but it is also so sweet and romantic and funny. And.. did I mention it was sexy? Let me be a little more clear about that: I'm talking panty-wetting, expecting-steam-to-start-coming-off-the-screen, need-a-cold-shower-more-than-once-while-reading kind of hot. Or maybe that's just me...
Alex and Kyle's relationship is so sweet and loving, after a rather, er.. rocky start. Alex is a young man in the process of starting over on his own in Los Angeles after leaving his wife (and with good reason - what a horrible woman). He is coming to terms with parts of himself he had not been able to explore before and determined to live his life authentically. However, he is extremely shy and a bit naïve, so things aren't going quite as planned. He is also afraid he will never find anyone who would accept him for who he really is - a bisexual man with a lingerie kink.
Enter Kyle.. an out and proud gay man with quite a talent for cooking and baking and lives in the apartment below Alex.. and who just so happens to share the same kink. Kyle wants Alex from the second he sees him, but things don't quite go as planned there either. The two men have quite a rough start, and I admit I wanted to slap some sense into Alex a few times. But once their relationship begins, it is wonderful. They are absolutely adorable and loving.. and their chemistry is off the charts and utterly combustible. And that epilogue? Holy hell. Perfection.
Irreplaceable is a well-balanced mix of romance and steam with some sex crepes, rainbow guilt cookies, and lace thrown in - and you know you want to read it to find out what the heck that means. Kyle's sister and Alex's best friend bring quite a bit of humor to the story as well. The authors do a fantastic job of integrating Kyle and Alex's mutual love of all things lace and satin and beautiful into their relationship, and the result is a book that will melt your kindle as well as your heart. I am a big fan of each author's work individually and am thrilled to say that this book is written so seamlessly it sounds like one collective voice rather than two individual styles. I sincerely hope to see them collaborate on more works in the future.
Kyle is a out and proud gay man living in Alex's building. The mutual attraction is off the charts but Alex is holding back and keeps rejecting Kyle's advances. Soon though, Kyle learns the truth. .but don't fear, Kyle is hiding a secret as well... he wears lacy manties too!
Now that they know their secrets, the sexy factor increases and Alex and Kyle begin their journey to falling in love.
Steamy, sexy, sweet and fun. Irreplaceable is incredible.
I read the Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am leaving this honest review based on that copy but also one clicked, because it is that good a book. Definitely recommend this book.
