Evan Collins and Paige Ryan have been friends for ten years. Meeting in college, their remarkable personalities suited each perfectly, providing a shelter and stimulus to move forward with their dreams. While Paige's feelings for Evan evolve into a poignant love, he becomes bewitched by her younger sister Whitney. With a darkness keeping Evan in thrall, he is unable to distinguish the ugly reality that becomes his life when he marries Whitney. In the deepest recesses of his heart, he realizes his mistake, but is unsure how to bring balance back into his life.
In a gloriously fluid way, we are moved along this tale of second chances, as secrets are revealed, along with betrayals. Sensitively told, with unbridled passion, this is a must read! Kudos ~ Bravo ~ now I'm counting the days until Daniel's story, Book 5, is available.
I liked both Evan and Paige, but got a little tired of all his angst over whether their relationship was wrong. Since she was his wife's sister (they were getting divorced), Evan was sure that they couldn't be together. His constant angst over it just got old.
I wish they had waited to have sex until Evan's divorce was final. What his wife did was awful, and he was right to divorce her -- but I detest cheating.
I really liked Paige, but thought it was odd that she couldn't stand up to her awful sister. She was a psychologist, so she knew her sister was manipulative and awful. With her training, she should have been able to deal with her sister better, and certainly not cave to her demands for so many years.
I really wanted to knock some sense into Evan a few times -- he was sure his past meant he wasn't good enough for Paige, and that their relationship was wrong -- yet he still kept sleeping with her. He needed to make up his mind whether he wanted to be with her or not, and stick to it.
This one get 3 stars from me. It probably would have gotten 4 stars if they had waited until Evan's divorce was final to get together -- as I said before, I detest cheating.
I am so glad that Evan finally woke up and kicked Whitney to the curb. I wanted to jump and shout over that little revelation!!! There were some twists and turns in this story, that I would have never seen coming, which made this story much more interesting. I am so happy Evan & Paige found their own HEA. As far as I'm concerned, they have always been meant to be together in the first place.
I can't wait until Daniel's story is released later this month.
I've been eagerly awaiting Evan and Paige's story since the first book in the series. In fact, I was kind of disappointed that I had to wait for two other stories (even though I loved Matt's) to get to theirs. However, I must say, that theirs was worth the wait.
This book answers so many questions I had. Why did Evan marry Whitney? How did he wind up falling in love with her sister? How long would it take for him in Paige to get together? There's also a subplot with Evan's biological family, which ordinarily would have bored me to tears, but they're entertaining enough to get their own series. It was also delightful to see Whitney, after three books of being a total bitch, get what's coming to her.
Now there's just one more question that I have: Who is Daniel going to hook up with?

Ack I don’t know how I feel about this book, for some damn reason, as I read I couldn’t stop thinking about the fact that Evan had known Paige for years, yet saw her as nothing but a friend, and then when her sister comes into the picture – Whitney, he is dazzled by her good looks, and Paige gets to enjoy seeing the guy she loves marry her vindictive and vapid little sister (a marriage that lasts for 9 years). This seriously put me off the romance and the story.
I also found myself annoyed by the fact it was Paige throughout the book fighting for her and Evan, he finally realises she’s more than a friend to him, but goodness, his indecisiveness and constant statement that anything between them was a bad idea, had me rolling my eyes, especially as the statement would frequently come prior to or after he had kissed her.
Certainly not what I was expecting from Bella Andre and it has me hesitating big time when it comes trying any of the other books in the series.
I was and wasn't looking forward to reading this book because I detest Whitney so much and Evan was really blind to how she was I was also interested in how they met and I can now say "What a "*****" sorry.
Paige I loved from the other Maverick story's and how she and Evan were friends is amazing, I loved how they got together and Paige didn't give up on him when so many would of.
Evan I don't know if I love him as much as the other but he is growing on me maybe when I reread this again I'll find something that would connect me to him, it was good to hear of more family coming into the Maverick Group it's getting bigger every time I also can't wait to read Daniel's story and I hope Lyssa will get her book too
This book is about second chances... in love and in family. Since starting the Maverick Series, Evan has always been the most intriguing, distant and introverted one of them all.
Evan Collins married the wrong sister and suffered with a marriage of appearances, as well as a duplicitous wife in Whitney but shortly after Thanksgiving Evan finally discovers all the lies that Whitney has been feeding him and is so shocked and questioning of his own decisions and blind faith...
'Until, in one fell swoop, at two p.m. on this late fall Monday afternoon, the blindfold was ripped from his eyes.'
...so he turns away from all who love him. However he realises he can't hide forever
'Evan Collins had started over more than once in his life. This time he vowed to get it right.' 'He was setting his world to rights, reclaiming his life, moving on. And he was home again.'
Paige Ryan always loved Evan but she could never tell him so she kept her love a secret for nine years. As after her mothers death she vowed to always be there for her sister Whitney. Until she finds out about the secret her sister kept from her and Evan.
To me Paige is by far the stand out character, there are twists and turns that make this a more complex read but Paige is steadfast and unwavering. She was kind and decent but had a strong spine also.
This is book #4 in the Maverick Billionaires series. Each book is a standalone with a HEA but with each new book in the series you get to spend time with characters from previous books which is fun. 'Irresistible in love' is definitely more intense than the other books in this series, my heart was racing when the unexpected happened. I couldn't wait to read more. Definitely a must read.
I was excited to finally receive the fourth book from this amazing series, The Maverick Billionaires. Written by a complete favourite author, Bella Andre and Jennifer Skully. I have completely adored this most wonderful series so far. And was so completely excited to read this one too.
When Evan Collins came to the final realisation when his marriage should finally end and he'd be free from evil disruptive woman, Whitney Ryan. I would never forget her. Now Evan was settled down with all his close friends and loved ones he decided to make a brand new life for their closest group. And never be left alone.
And now his two closest friends getting married he couldn't be any more happier. But he still had to visit work whilst he was oversea's and dealing with his divorce too.
One person who always loved Even. She was the first one who always cared for Evan. She just wished she could do so much more after her sister hast just ruined Evan. She felt now after the divorce that maybe she would never see him again.
This book would have to be one of the best of this most wonderful romantic. I was so utterly pleased with these most beautiful kind and caring characters. It was a total masterpiece and I loved it so.
* I recommend this book to everyone!!
