Luke Carter joined the SEALs to get away from home, but after 12 years with the elite unit he's almost ready to retire and start a family, but with who? Juliet Morgan worked in finance, is smart, beautiful, and was yanked by her father to work in a plain accounting job in Burbank as a favor, and a chance search on military-mates.com lead her to Luke Carter's profile, and they started exchanging messages... Until Luke was seriously injured on one mission and was flew home to rehab... his future in the SEALs is uncertain. Wallowing in self-pity, but only 1 hour away from Juliet, will his pride prevent him from finding the love he needed?
Being a teaser this book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, beware.
The characters were complex and likable. Luke is a Navy SEAL stationed in Afghanistan. Juliet is a junior accountant in CA. While online shopping, Juliet accidentally discovers MilitaryMates.com and is drawn to Luke's online dating profile. They begin exchanging messages and getting to know each other. But long distance relationships never work out, do they? And as a SEAL, Luke goes days without access to the Internet. Do Luke and Juliet stand a chance?
The plot was relatively fast paced, with a lot of action and suspense. It was well written and held my attention from the beginning. It made me smile, laugh, and yes, even cry. It does end in a cliffhanger. (Ahhhh!)
This is my first book by Amanda Heartley, and I was very impressed. I can't wait for more of Luke and Juliet's story! I highly recommend this book and series!
I reviewed this book on behalf of A Book Lover's Emporium book blog.
Lonely SEAL, Luke, overseas wishing he had someone waiting for him at home. His mom died when he was young and his dad is not much of a dad. He went into the Navy as soon as he turned 18 and became a SEAL as soon as he was eligible to. He signs up for a military online dating service but luck is not on his side so far. Finally, after many duds, he gets a reply that makes his heart stop. This girl...can she be real?
Juliet has just been forced to move to LA by her father and knows absolutely no one. One night she's a little toasted on wine and sets up an online profile after stumbling on the website. After browsing a bit, she stumbles upon Luke just as she's about to give up. It's like electricity...could he be real though, she messages him immediately and dreams of him once she goes to bed.
After a few messages, they become more sporadic and she's getting worried about him. Decisions need to be made before they go any further, can she handle him being in danger overseas and her not being able to know for sure? Will anything happen to Luke before they even get to meet?
First of this is not a genre that I normally read so it was a little harder for me but I do say that this was a well-written book I was totally engaged in the story I like how to story developed I like the characters in the story I think it had just the right amount of hot and steamy Miss to it to make it a really good book. I highly recommend this book no I'm not giving you no spoilers
