My interest is strictly personal. I bought this handy little color vision test to teach my children about color and how the eye can screen out nonessential information to focus on the `buried' image. They were old enough to start enjoying the visual tricks of Magic Eye Gallery: A Showing Of 88 Images, stereograms and optical illusionists Trick of the Eye: Art and Illusion like M.C. Escher The Magic Mirror of M.C. Escher [25th Anniversary Edition].
This 24-plate edition tests for red/green and blue color visual defects. The plates come in a small 6-ring binder which allows for easy removal and insertion. It's a small but quality work that is beautifully printed on heavy matte-coated stock. The description of color deficiencies and the instructions for administering the test are in layman terms making this book a fun and an accessible resource for nonprofessionals, too.
I keep it out our coffee table and it continues to be a fascinating conversation topic among our guests. If you are into art and color, this is a worthwhile investment for your library.
The test has been independently validated by Academic Institutions and the US Army Color Vision Study. If you are looking for an "Official" color vision test - this is the one for you.
