This one starts with a Chemistry experiment gone wrong, which transports the reader through time and space, resulting in a quest to choose a story pathway that will lead you to the Magician (who you must hope will be feeling generous, so he will agree to help you get back home!)
As my first story options unfolded, I found myself in New Zealand, learning lots of facts about a series of true giants. From giant eagles on mountain tops, to 2,500 year old giant trees, I travelled on towards the magician. I think I even had a quick trip to the Magician's House. (You can find a book in the series with the same name - I love that these books are intertwining to show an extension of the same magical world as more books are written by these authors.)
Although filled with facts, this book points out all "magic" is simply things that science has not yet explained. I see that as a great way to inspire kids to take an interest in science!
