I really liked the development of the two main characters, Reverie and Ben. Even with how short the book was, I grew to like them a lot and felt they were easy to relate to. Reverie has some baggage and heartache she's been holding onto from her past. That baggage and career pressures led her to make certain choices she isn't proud of. But she found help and has changed over the last couple years. Her image suffered and part of that consequence it reflected on her father, who just happens to be a very big named actor. She's trying to not reflect poorly on him, but just wants love from him. As an escape from everything she takes a vacation to Makani island. A perfect spot for healing and rejuvenation. Especially when she runs into the bad boy Ben.
Ben was another great and easily likable character. I liked him even better than I liked Reverie. He's not the bad boy she first thinks he is, all thanks to a little misunderstanding. But he is the person she needed to meet and have in her life. Both of them are trying to hide out and lay low from the news and paparazzi.
I really liked the development of their friendship. It was sweet watching them learn to trust each other and find someone who understands, even though they didn't realize who the other person was because you know, they were laying low from everyone. That friendship slow develops to something more and complicates Reverie's plan, especially with the agreement she made her father.
I liked the way that the author was able to resolve all the problems that these two faced and brought them to a place of healing. Even though it was short, it was very enjoyable and well done. I loved the fun surprise at the end. *happy sigh*
Content: Clean. A couple sweet kisses.
I received a copy from the author. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
Ben is a professional baseball player. He got thrown into the spotlight for being a hero.
They both take a vacation on Makani Island to get out of the spotlight. The meet up accidentally, but neither reveals who they really are. They agree to have a fun time for the week, and go their separate ways. No last names and no strings.
I usually skip short stories because there isn't always enough time for sufficient character development. I was pleasantly surprised with this book. I love the connection that Reverie and Ben have right from the start. I felt like I got to know them both. This is a sweet/clean book. It's a fun quick read, and I recommend it.
I received a complimentary copy. I chose to write a review and share my opinion of this newest addition to Ms. Kelly's island stories.
