About the Author

Alan Howard is professor emeritus in anthropology at the University of Hawai'i. He has been doing research among the Rotuman people since 1959 and is the author of Learning to Be Rotuman, and Hef Ran Ta (The Morning Star): A Biography of Wilson Inia, along with many articles in professional journals. He created and manages The Rotuma Website at www.rotuma.net. Jan Rensel is managing editor at the Center for Pacific Islands Studies and adjunct faculty member of the Department of Anthropology, University of Hawai'i. She received her Ph.D. in anthropology at the University of Hawai'i for research on Rotuma. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.
