This book is a scholarly tome devoted to representative samples of the current (as of its date of publication) state of OT historiography. It is neither conservative nor liberal in its approach (the contributing authors vary in their perspectives), though Long, the editor, is called a "maximalist" because he affirms that the Bible is the appropriate place to start when reconstructing the history of Israel.
