''I had no idea that Lincoln wanted to hire Garibaldi to command the Union Army! This book is packed with startling revelations from the Roman Legionnaires fighting with a gladius to Italian Eurofighter Typhoons scrambling to intercept Russian planes in the Baltic in 2015. An amazing world tour.''

From the Author
Italy Invades: How Italians Conquered the World
is the third book in a series that began with Stuart Laycock's 2012 All the Countries We've Invaded. His book, published by History Press, documented how Britain invaded 90% of all the countries in the world. Together Laycock and I wrote America Invades
(published in 2014). With Italy Invades
we turned to the grandfather of all empires -- Rome. We defined Italy in a broad sense from ancient Rome to the present day.
We examined the military impact of Italy upon the entire world. We devote a chapter to every country in the world from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe detailing the Italian role.
Our book is filled with surprises. We discuss all three Italian invasions of Russia. We write about how President Lincoln nearly hired Garibaldi to be a Commander in the Union Army. We tell the story of how Giovanni Martini served as a bugler for General Custer at the Battle of Little Big Horn...and survived!
Italian military history is shrouded by stereotypes and misconceptions. We strip away the propaganda to reveal a rich and fascinating history.
