Nothing against the prior reviewer who does not believe this is the original Oi Ocha, but I must say though...as a repeat buyer both of these 16.9 oz. bottles from Amazon as well as 2 liter imports straight from Japan, the two are identical. Every now and then I feel like having the stronger Oi Ocha Koi Aji (not sold by Amazon as of the time of this review), so I'm familiar with it as well. I've uploaded three photos, comparing the packaging, as well as closeups of exactly 1.0 fl. oz. of each. (The prior reviewer's pic has ice, no listed amount, and appears to be far darker than the Koi Aji he believes it is.) Hopefully, this will help folks decide for themselves...as for me, I'll just keep on drinking my favorite beverage.

On to the actual review...for informational purposes, most of the bottled "green tea" sold in the US is nothing like real green tea. It's essentially tea-flavored kool-aid, with ingredients that have no business being there. Do not expect Oi Ocha to taste anything like these beverages and you won't be disappointed.

Mellow and ever-so-slightly nutty, Oi Ocha's flavor is delicate, subtle, and amazingly refreshing. Drink it as cold as possible, and store unused portions in the refrigerator after opening. (Left out and oxidized, it turns dark and the taste goes bad. I have a theory that this is what the prior reviewer may have inadvertently done.) It doesn't have a single calorie, and contains 120% of your daily value of vitamin C per serving, but I don't drink it because it happens to be healthy...I drink it because it tastes so very, very good. Oi Ocha is the best.

With 130% of the daily amount of Vitamin C and all natural, this is the drink for you. Just one warning, it is not sweet. In fact it is very bitter. But remember it is pure tea, very little added. No sugar or sweetener has touched these tea leaves before or after they were brewed. So be warned! Otherwise goes great with food or by itself. Make sure to drink it chilled and enjoy!

This is my favorite refreshing beverage. All natural and unsweetened. I have a mini fridge in my office at work and keep it stocked with these. When I first visited Japan, I found myself consuming a lot of bottles of unsweetened iced green tea like this, from the ubiquitous vending machines. I find this tastes most like what I have on my trips there. Buying in bulk on Amazon seems more cost effective than purchasing at my local natural foods supermarket.

My husband first got this in Japan, searched everywhere in the US for it and couldn't find it, so we were happy to find it on Amazon. It's now on subscription for us! The best sugar-free bottled tea anywhere. Warning: if you like Nestea Ice this is not for you! But if you have taste, you'll love it.

Recently got my Ito en delivery and this batch is now made in Taiwan instead of Japan.
Hoping it would taste the same but it wasn't. So I went ahead and cancelled my auto delivery.
They charge the same price for the Taiwan made tea.

The first time I had this tea was when I got off the plane in Japan. Finding it here has been wonderful and I get a monthly delivery. This tea is a strong brew, unsweet, and roasted. It doesn't really SAY that it is roasted but it really does have that roasted aroma to it. There is a definite difference in green teas and with this one you can smell it as soon as you open the lid. It isn't a watery grassy type of green tea, it doesn't have just a hint of flavor, and it isn't mild. This tea is very strong despite being a green tea. I think it is better served cold. The cold seems to balance the strong earthy aroma.

I meant what I said in my title for this review; that's why I subscribed to have this tea sent regularly to me. I take a bottle to work everyday. I love the stuff so much that I have FINALLY been able to kick my soda habit. HOWEVER, I feel the need to warn others about something that has been happening recently, with my last few shipments.

Amazon has been shipping my the Taiwanese version of the product instead of the one clearly marked "Product of Japan." Now, with many things, that difference in manufacturing location would not bother me. But, in this case it does. At first I thought that the packaging had just been changed. The cases from Japan are in well-made, very sturdy boxes with handles, and the ones from Taiwan are half-box with shrink-wrap over top. Cheap and much more difficult to carry up to my second story apartment. I was prepared to accept the change in packaging without complaint - until I opened the first bottle of tea.

I wrote to Amazon about the packaging issue before I tasted the tea, and of course, did not see any improvement in the next shipment. It came from Taiwan too... disappointing. Amazon should listen to us more often.

I tasted something "off" about the tea when I opened the first bottle from the first Taiwanese case I received. (I didn't even know it was from there at the time.) The different taste (I really can't put my finger on what it was that got my attention, but it was distinctly different) caused me to look at the bottle more closely. When I saw the source, I realized that I wasn't getting my beloved JAPANESE tea. I know, I know it's still Ito En, which SHOULD mean it's ok, and the same, but it's not.
