I can't believe anyone would give Julie only two stars! She has got the most incredible voice! Her album is beautiful and fun and I listen to it all of the time! This CD deserves no less than FIVE STARS - it's a refreshing change to the typical so-so voices in country music today. Julie is an amazing singer and she sings each song like she's really lived it. To say she sings without emotion is crap - she has so much emotion behind her voice and you'll love this CD if you buy it. I highly recommend it!

I was on a long trip and was listening to Trisha Yearwood's new CD and decided to change to Julie Reeves' CD - It's About Time. I only bought the CD for one song -- "What I Need", but I quickly fell in love with the entire CD. Needless to say, this CD is 10x better than Trisha's (and she is my favorite country artist) and Julie is the best kept secret in country music today. Buy the CD and listen to it -- it is rare to find a CD in which ALL the songs are potential Top 30 hits - especially "If Heartaches Had Wings." I'm sure some of the "major" female artists would have loved to record this song on their latest CD's. A truly GREAT CD that you will play over and over again...

When I heard this CD, I was literally blown away by Julie Reeves talent! Her voice is distinct and different from anything on country radio. This album received wide critical acclaim, but it never found it's voice for radio, which is strange. There's a nice mixture of uptempo honky tonks and heartfelt ballads. The album starts off strong with three uptempo songs, Trouble Is A Woman, Do You Think About Me and Party Down. They are all nice songs, Do You Think About Me reminds of Pam Tillis' song Deep Down for some reason. I think it's the arrangement. What I Need is a really nice ballad about asking someone to be sure about their intentions. The title track is a fun, catchy song that was the album's first single. Whatever is a nice kiss off song that would have been a great choice for single. She shows her softer side on songs like You Were A Mountain, If I'd Never Loved You, If Heartaches Had Wings, etc. She kicks it up on songs like All Or Nothing, What You Get is What You See, etc. This is a top notch effort and I hope one day Julie Reeves decides to record another album!

This is an incredible debut album from Julie Reeves. She never really took off, but this is just a kind reminder of what Nashville missed out on. What an incredible voice! The songs on here are engaging and memorable. The singles were the uptempos "Trouble Is A Woman" and the title track, and the heartfelt ballad "What I Need". None of them really caught on with radio, which is a shame but their loss! There's some great uptempos on here like "Do You Think About Me", "Whatever" and "All Or Nothing" and great ballads like "If Heartaches Had Wings" and "You Were A Mountain". Check this one out!

Although this cd is over 10 years old , I have never forgotten the beautiful voice of Julie Reeves and periodically check to see if she made any more music - sadly, there are no others . Nashville must not have appreciated the many talents of this beautiful lady who could sing better than many current country crooners who have made it to the airwaves - sure not fair . If you are looking for a fantastic voice and some grat country tunes, infused with a bit of pop , she is one of the best of the MANY country female singers of the 90's , many of whom were lost in the shuffle and only hasd one ( really wonderful ) cd - recommended.

I was first introduced to Julie Reeves at a Songwriter's Night at BGA (Battle Ground Academy) where several of the songwriters wrote for her. So I knew from the beginning she was going to have great material--and boy does she ever! Her voice is distinctive and strong, but she also knows when to hold it in, making the listener hang on her every word, like "You Were A Mountain" and "HE Keeps Me In One Piece." But you can tell she'll kick live with three jumpstarting, butt kicking numbers that can tear up the place. The opening "Trouble Is A Woman" shows guys that a woman is dangerous when she wants revenge. "Do You Think About Me" is a melancholy visit to a past relationship, though upbeat enough not to be depressing. "Party Down" is a halarious twist to an ending relationship. The title track and first single is an original, fresh take on a love song, where Julie raps/sings the entire song, making it the best thing to land on radio. The last two tracks are my absolute favorite. "What You Get Is What You See" is a dire need for a number one hit, an upbeat song with a kickin' guitar solo. the closing "If Heartaches Had Wings" is a folk-song about a woman who is wondering, 'is this the best there is.' The way Julie sings it, it has a haunting feel and is one of the best tracks on the album. All in all, buy this album!!!!! It kicks serious butt!!! You go Julie!!!!!!!

Bottom-Line: All things considered I love this CD, and I am glad I bought it without really knowing what I was getting myself in to.

My spouse often asks me what it is I enjoy about Country Music. I could go on and on about the effect it has on my heart, mind, and soul, but that would fill up a page or two, so...I guess the short answer is that it reminds me of how good music can be when a room full of musicians sit down to play and sing from their hearts. In this strange new world where Brittany Spears, Jessica & Ashley Simpson, The Pussycat Dolls, Jay Z, Eminem etc., do and have pass as lyrical musical artists, I find comfort in Country because it seems a little more real, and a little less like it was manufactured on an assembly line.

The music is performed by real artists, with real instruments, singing about the stuff of life; the emotional stuff that can make me smile or cry. It moves me, it transports me, it touches my soul, it makes me feel, and can make me weep...that to me is what music is supposed to be about, touching the human soul.

That is what then 25-year-old Julie Reeves' debut CD, "It's About Time" (1999) does for me; the more I listen the more I fall in love with her sultry alto voice and those jet black curly locks! Even aver seven years! With a voice as deep, vibrant, and powerful as the Mississippi River, and as rich and genuine as any to come out of Nashville in recent memory, ex-demo tape extra Julie Reeves has released an outstanding CD in "It's About Time" that harkens back to traditional Country & Western while breaking new ground on the contemporary Country & Western music scene.

The first time I laid eyes and ears on Ms. Reeves, she was dressed in green (ack!
