I loved watching the dynamic play out with he & Caitlin as well. There was plenty of emotional, mental, & physical chemistry to witness with these two.
But what made their story just.. more for me, was the surrounding plot involving them. So many twists and "OMG! I thought I knew where this was going, but I was SO wrong" reveals. And I must say I loved that. It kept me intrigued throughout the entire novel. Things just kept popping up & happening. I was like... "Damn! What's gonna happen next?!" Maybe this is why I felt like I was never going to finish the book? I never hit a slow or dragging point within the novel, but I was wondering why it took me so long to finish it. This isn't a bad thing though :D
Nothing felt rushed here or like it was just left there either. Like it was forgotten about by the time the story comes to a close. I love how all the things that were introduced here, was brought to a close or left you with a clear impression that you would be returning to it in future books, but without that dreaded feeling/thing, called a "Cliffy".
There is a clear set up here for another book. But I love how it was balanced within the story and how it didn't take away from anything concerning our main characters or their plight. It all flowed well & had a purpose. So this was awesome for me.
I would say this is a solid, intriguing, erotic & suspenseful intro to a series. It has me curious about what's to come in the next & future books. I would definitely recommend this read.
There is so much happening in this book that sometimes I needed an intermission to get my head around it all.
Travis is an ex navy SEAL who now has his own security business. Three years ago his wife Sarah went missing and despite a body being found, he never believed she was truly dead. He was right.
Sarah turns up at the US embassy in Berlin. Her name is Caitlin Kincaid, she is suffering from amnesia and has no memory of Travis or their life together. She returns to the US with him as they try to piece their life back together.
Travis learns things about Caitlin that leave him questioning if he really even knew her. One thing he does know is that he is completely in love with this woman and will do anything to protect & keep her.
Caitlin however is a magnet for trouble. There are a number of people with a vested interest in her and what is hidden away in her brain. Some people want her dead, others need her alive to get what they need.
This is a fast paced story involving the CIA, Russian mafia, motorcycle gangs and is bursting with alpha males!
It is a second chance love story too and amongst all this drama is a re-emergence of love between Travis and Caitlin, there are lovely pockets of romance throughout this story.
Really enjoyed this
I am a huge fan of Ms Paige and have read everything she has released. She is able to give us a strong, tough Alpha male who doesn't have any problems showing his sweet side, especially to the heroine. This book also had a strong h who was able to stand up for herself while showing love and friendship to the people close to her.
This book had an interesting storyline. I wasn't sure how I would feel if I was faced with the heartache Travis had to deal with knowing the one he loved didn't remember anything they had shared. Ms Paige made it believable and showed understanding of how frustrating it was for both Travis and Caitlin.
The action and drama was riveting and up until the end I still didn't know who were the goodies and baddies.
My favourite part of the book was the last chapter and epilogue and both left me with a big smile on my face.
Great work Victoria, another fantastic start to a series.
Thank you for my ARC and the opportunity to read and review your wonderful work.
