Sampling, Remixing and Looping in a Delta Blues track?
Damn right! They did it and did good too, real good :D
If I'm on a long road trip and getting a little road weary I put on this song and crank it up loud.

I was unaware of R.L. until I heard this track paired with The Left Banke's "Pretty Ballerina" on NPR's World Cafe. Outrageously creative juxtaposition! Couldn't get it out of my head for days and now I'm one of his biggest fans. Gone but DEFINITELY not forgotten, bless you Mr. Burnside.

I am making a motorcycle video using this song in the background. A classic for a classic vintage BSA motorcycle video. I'll post the video on YouTube when it is finished. It's bad you know! She asked me why, so I went and told her so! The engineer blows the whistle, the fireman he rings the bell!

Normally I don't go in for jazz or blues but this was an exception. I love the lyrics, which are just "out there" enough that I can attach whatever mood I want to at the time I'm listening. Burnside seems to have a love of the "Fireman Ring the Bell" lyrics from years past and they get repeated in a couple of other songs, this one included. Interesting words, and very interesting rhythms and beat in this tune!

Smack in your face blues! Mouth harp wailing, beat slamming, organ punching and RL telling this tale. He definitely belonged at Fat Possum, along with Junior Kimbrough.

I'm a blues fan from the heart and Rural is just one of many that I enjoy listening to. He's a true Mississippi guitarist, songwriter and singer. He's a living legend.
