It's Not You, It's Me: How to Heal Your Relationship with Yourself and Others Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 74 ratings

Following on from the success of Reinvent Me, life coach Camilla Sacre-Dallerup turns her attention to self-love and self-care. In this new programme, Camilla will show you how to recognize, pay attention to, and use this new-found confidence to love yourself as well as others.

"The lessons I've learned from Camilla have touched my life deeply, and I've been in awe as I've watched her transform from a glittering TV star to shining her light and spreading her message in the world in an altogether more meaningful way. It's Not You, It's Me will shift your perception. The only question you need to ask yourself is are you ready?" (Alison Tay, editor in chief, Grazia Middle East)

All the challenges we face in our lives present us with an opportunity to learn, evolve and grow as people. Holding on to patterns from the past creates blocks; these can make us feel stuck and unworthy of love and respect. In It's Not You, It's Me, Camilla uses a series of targeted questions followed by exercises, tips and techniques to help the reader explore and release their old patterns and blocks so that they can move forward in their lives. Camilla will explore -

  • Perception and projection
  • Being enough
  • Validating yourself
  • Letting go of judgement
  • Standing in your power

This book is a reminder to us all that we are worthy enough and that we do not need to wait for outside validation to feel whole and healed within. By taking responsibility for our situation we can heal the most important relationship - the one we have with ourselves. In doing this, we unlock our true potential and step into our light.

Heal the relationship with yourself and watch everything change around you!
Incredible book. Read it in one afternoon because I couldn’t put it down. It is a guide to strengthening your tool box to handle relationships beginning with the one you have with yourself. My favorite concept is knowing just by becoming self aware, and changing yourself you can usually change what you get from every relationship. Thank you, Camilla

I'm not usually a self-help book person (not because I don't need it, but because there are so many daunting options!), but this book provided me more. The book shares insights and tools that I think allow the reader to become a better (and happier) human.

Camilla's perspective is comforting; having been through serious life challenges, she "walks the walk" and understands that self-reflection / realization / work isn't easy, but can be so rewarding. The tone is not preachy at all, rather a warm friend sharing the benefit of her knowledge.

The meditations, affirmations and worksheet tools are bonuses in the sense that you can come back to them over and over again.

I recommend this book for all of the reasons above and for its' accessible (and not overwhelming) style. One note: I read the physical book, but having heard Camilla's soothing voice in the meditation exercises, I think the Audible version would be amazing.

What a comforting journey into self-love. This book is the perfect blend of story-telling, inspiration, meditation, and real, actionable tools for creating a loving relationship with yourself.

Self-acceptance is an ongoing process, and is the foundation for most of our relationships. Camilla beautifully lays out a framework for going inward and healing the parts of ourselves that could be shaping the way we function in the world.

I will come back to this book again and again; anytime I need a self-love reset.

It's Not You, It's Me by Camilla Sacre-Dallerup is actually the first self-help book that I've ever read. The title was appealing to me, and the simple yet eye catching cover didn't hurt my desire to pick this book up. I figure we could all use a little self reflection every once in awhile, and I think reading this book gave plenty of advice on how one can do so. I did think that the formatting of the book was a little confusing, but also this is an ARC and I'm not an avid reader of self-help books, so I'm unaware if this type of formatting is a common style of the genre. What I do know is that I enjoyed the affirmations, and I enjoyed that there were actual exercises in the book that the author walked you through step by step. It was helpful considering I'd never picked up a book by her before and I'm new to self-help. That being said I think that even if you're new to the genre you'd be able to follow along with this one well. It did take me a week or so to get through it, but I think that taking your time reading through allows you soak in what you're reading.

All in all this was a good read. I think I will definitely pick up another by this author, or maybe even just another self-help/self-reflection book in general.

Having enjoyed Camilla’s two preceding books, I loved this one too. It really helped me to fine tune a few things about my daily routine and it also really helped with my self confidence. There are so many little tips and tricks I found very useful and I enjoyed the nourishing way Camilla used her words. I keep the book on my bedside table and pick it up every now and then to read a few pages to keep me in line.

Camilla Sacre Dallerup's book "It's Not You, It's Me" is a book that is self help oriented that focuses on healing relationship issues.

The book is 167 pages, not including references and the acknowledgements. Dallerup's writing style is easy to digest. After the about the author, forward and introduction the book is divided into 4 different parts: Self Awareness, Self Acceptance, Self Love and Self Care. There is also a very helpful checklist of exercises at the end of the book.

This book is autobiographical in parts as Dallerup (a successful author, self help coach, and dance instructor) discusses her past fails and how she learned from them. While this book is well done nothing new is said here. I'm a Counselor and I"ve already used and heard of many of the concepts she describes in this book as a way to learn more about myself and to break old, useless relationship patterns. What I found most helpful about the book is the "Your Toolbox" sections in it. These are blocked and are worksheets designed to help you learn more about yourself throughout the book. Some of them are ideas that the author got from reading other self help books put into practice.

Other people will be refreshed by this book-but there is a lot of good books out there on mindfulness, loving yourself and acceptance already out there. This treads familiar ground.

Camilla does a masterful job at breaking down the value of your relationships (the one with YOU and then with those in your life). Get ready to level-up how you navigate the relationships in your life as you learn how to bring in more mindfulness and intention.

This is the instruction manual for relationships that we should have been born with. I was really both pleased and surprised with this book. Half expecting 'just another' self-help book, I was really impressed with how clearly the author wrote and simply things were explained. I appreciated the way it is so easy to read, written in small easily digestible pieces, inspirational 'real life' stories, with helpful and specific "toolbox" sections and sprinkled with some really great quotes too. While it is easy to read, you'll find yourself re-reading sections in order to fully absorb some of the ideas. Overall, the goal is to better know and understand yourself which will only make your relationships with others better. I really enjoyed reading this, and feel I've definitely become better because of it. I think anyone would benefit from reading this book.

If you are looking for yourself, don't know what or where you want to go in life and you are desperate for support to find your focus again. To find yourself again. Then you should take this book line by line into yourself and allow it to change your life forever. Already the predecessor "reinvent me" triggered changes in me for which I could not be more grateful. "Its not you its me" shows me personally how much self-love is already inside me, how much more positive and self-confident I am already going through life. This book can turn negative thoughts into positive ones, change your view on many things and be a guide to a more positive life, which is about you personally ❤️

5.0 out of 5 stars A game changer, utterly wonderful!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 22, 2020
I am completely bowled over by this book! It was as though the author was talking to me, as though she knew exactly how I felt and where I wanted to be. It’s written in such a readable format, that you don’t feel as though you’re turning page after page to get to the point of what the author is trying to convey. It’s to the point, functional, honest and it’s also quite a relaxing read.

It’s really evident throughout the book that the author absolutely knows what she is talking about. It’s as though she’s saying ‘I’ve been there, you are going to be ok’. From the get go the book had my full attention the examples used throughout really engage the reader and totally made me think YES that’s exactly how I feel and ‘oh it’s not just me’ and ‘wow I can actually do something about this’.

There are activities throughout the book that are fairly simple (I’m all for simple!) but really effective they really make you reflect on yourself. There’s a section on reframing which taught me some tools that I could, and did, use the very next day.

There are also free online meditations that come along with the book which I wasn’t aware of when I bought it and although I am not the best meditator (busy brain etc) the book showed me a few simple ways in which I could sort of bring my focus back. I think I’ll be re doing the meditations over and over to get better at it! The book actually says to acknowledge your thoughts but not to dwell on them and then continue with the meditation. I really hope I can crack the meditation side of things and develop the ability to get in to a meditative state.

All in all this book for me is wonderful and if you’re reading this and wondering whether to buy It or not then I hope if you do buy it that you get as much from it as I do! I felt like the author was sharing her findings and secret tips with me that aren’t wildly unrealistic but are very much focused on the everyday and being the best version of ourselves xx
