It's Not Me, It's You (Young In Love Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 605 ratings

I fake laugh every time I think about how ironic it is to be a commitment-phobe relationship therapist who is also the daughter of two world-renowned marriage and family counselors. Seriously, it’s comical!

Want to know how I messed up my life? Getting arrested for stealing a priceless artifact for a tearful client.

Want to know what my biggest problem is? Spending my life teaching women how to break relationships when all I want to do is make a relationship—with him.

Want to know what that makes me? The Break-Up Expert who is questioning everything I thought I knew.

IT'S NOT ME, IT'S YOU is the first book in the Young In Love Series, featuring the very large, very fun Young Family. If you love romance with layered characters and laugh out loud moments, snag your copy. This novel contains sex, profanity, and sensitive subjects that some may find triggering.

As a little girl, I loved to be holed up in my room creating stories with my Barbie Dolls. There was no subject I didn't tackle. It was always my dream to write a soap opera. As I grew older, I assumed that dream was just that... a dream.

Born and raised in Southeast Michigan, near Ann Arbor, my mother always instilled in me the importance of reading. There was never a time when I wasn't going to read, in the process of reading, or just finished reading a book. It was also my mother who, later on in my life, gave me my first romance novel: Indigo by Beverly Jenkins. From that moment on, I became a fan of Ms. Jenkins for life and a lover of all things romance.

One night, I had a strange dream about an underground lair, five floors below ground. And it didn't stop there. I continued to dream of this cast of characters for a whole week. I shared the dream with many people and they all suggested I write a book. My first novel, Basement Level 5: Never Scared, was published in 2012 under L. R. Wright.

I'm living my dream now.

I loved Blake. I love how the author didn’t make it all about how only men are scared to love and be vulnerable. I love the family dynamics. A great read with a glass of wine by the fire place

They were both so cool! Usually I like one main character or the other but I liked both of them. They were flawed but redeemable. The entire family is super cool and I can’t wait to read the series. And I love that they were intelligent, successful black people and not from drugs or hustling!

When Blake breaks into Lennox’s house thinking she’s helping a client, her life changes for the better.

This was such a cute, sweet, funny read. Lennox is the type of guy you want. He knows how to be sweet and caring but also when to put his foot down. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about Blake in the beginning but she quickly grew on me. I also loved their families, reminded me of my own. They were so funny and supportive.

Nice quick read! Check it out!

This is my first read by this author. I loved this book. I am now going back to purchase more. I love Elle's writing style. I knew after the first few pages of reading that I would enjoy this book. I love Lennox, he is a class act. He has all the characteristics you want in a real man! Buy this book you will love it. I'll let you know what I think about the other books I buy in this series.

This was sooooo good. Blake was a tough nut to crack but Lennox loved her to life. That was patience, honesty, and serious love meeting her were she was emotionally. DEEP

Blake was the breakup maven. She’s built her career and brand on the fact that she helps people with their break ups. She’s a straight shooter and says what she means. She’s a lot to handle since she doesn’t really value relationships based on her experiences.

Lennox is the handsome professor. He’s a little nerdy, educated, but fun and easy going. A little to nice and it’s gotten him into situations. He’s tired of meaningless sex, unfulfilling and drama filled encounters. He’s always had his eye on Blake.

This book cracked me up because Blake was a firecracker, short fuse and will pop off for any reason. She tried running, denying and distancing herself from him. Lennox balanced out her crazy and impulsive emotions. He could calm her. She gave his life more fun, it wasn’t mundane, and he was fully present and giving it his all.
“You challenge me, you push me. You make me feel safe.” They did this for each other.
Awesome read!
