This is an excellent book, but somewhat dated. Max Lucado could never have predicted the times we are going through now.
We were created to reflect His glory.
We were designed to point others back to Him.
The struggles we face, and the problems that seem to weigh us down are placed in our path for His purpose. And God will use whatever means necessary to let His glory be seen.
So many times as a stay-at-home mom, I find myself so engrossed in the many details that each day demands of me that I begin to feel like I'm in charge...of it all. I forget that I am only able to complete my tasks because of Him.
Max Lucado tells the story of a mirror that was used to save a man's life. The mirror had no illusions of its own. It simply accomplished the task it was designed to do...reflect the light...and it changed the course of a stranded soldier.
What would happen if we could lay aside our personal goals and ambitions and simply allow God's light to reflect for those around us to see? Would it change their lives also? I imagine so. And it makes me wonder how many people have not seen Him because I was too wrapped up in my own agenda to let Him shine.
I love reading Max Lucado's books. He is to-the-point, and there's no fluffy details or irrelevant stuff. This book truly reflected its' title..."It's Not About Me." And for that very reason...I give it 5 stars.
If you have become too wrapped up in your own struggles and questions...read this book. Let yourself be reminded that we were only created to point others back to Him. And whatever you're currently going through has a purpose. Trust Him to reveal it when He's ready.
